Corsair Carbide Air 540 Builds

Cheers. I am seriously considering this case for the base of a watercooling build. A decent 120.3 rad in the front should cool a GPU and CPU and I can always put in a double in the roof at a later date. Other alternates are the TJ07 (not keen due to the interior being silver) or a Corsair 750D/900D.

I'm finding my new case superb, the lian li d60@, bigger and better than the 540 with loads more options http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18561258

Assuming its the 290X you mentioned in your log then possibly their 47mm one? The pic above is a 290X with a 40mm rad and looks like theres a fair bit of room to spare!

I cant even fit a 38mm in the front with a 7990 :(

My 290X is pretty long, will measure it tomorrow. But I can always get a different one if putting a block on it anyway and use the current one in the mining machine.

How loud or "silent" are peoples 540s?
Ive been experimenting with the case, and my build is incredibly loud.
I've been running the stock 140 at the back, a h100i with 2 scythe GTs and another 2 scythe GTs at the front.
People complain about the stock 140, but in my build, its by far the quietest fan.

I got in 2 af140 led quiet editions today to replace the GT's up front and they are even louder.

Am i just really sensitive to sound? While watching a youtube video, i can hear my PC over the sound. Is this the same for everyone else?
If not, what fans are everyone running?

Mines pretty quiet fan noise wise, the PSU runs passive until under load and even then is silent or close to, the WF3 cooler on the GPU is only audible from less than 15cm under normal use and the 140mm akasa apaches I replaced the corsair fans with are close to silent, likewise the fans on the khuler. The biggest issue is the pump whine as on the 1250 the pumps are on the rad so the noise isn't even buried away in the case or easy to dampen.

I hope mines going to be quieter than my current Antec 902

I'll be building it on boxing day and will feature a BeQuiet Dark Rock 2 cooling an FX-8350, Seasonic X-750 PSU and a Gigabyte Windforce 760

My WF3 is absolutely silent, and so is the PSU. Passive as well.
I think ill check out the akasa apaches. I really need myself a silent/quiet build.

Allnamestaken, what fans are you running?

I've got SP120's (quiet edition) on an H100i and they are pretty quiet on full pelt. The stock 140 fans are a little noisy (will be replacing them soon) but I've got everything hooked up to a Lamptron FC6 and I set the rad fans at 900 rpm and the case fans at 700 rpm. At those settings, the case is totally silent. When I'm gaming I turn all fans up full and the only ones that make any kind of annoying noise are the 2 front stock fans.

I forgot to mention. The sythe and stock fan are run at 7v. The af140s I got today don't seem to make a difference when on 7v.
Is it worth me investing in a fan controller when I already run most of my fans at 7v?

Mine is running the 3 stock Corsair AF140Ls on one channel of a Bitfenix Hydra fan controller, and 2 Corsair SP120 for the H100 on a second channel of the same fan controller.

With everything turned down to minimum (light gaming and general use) I can only hear it if I strain. With everything turned up it is audible but not overly painful, certainly fine for playing BF4 :)

Roalith, what do you use to control the fans so you can turn them down etc?

They all go to the mobo, I'm sure I don't need 5 fans cooling whilst web browsing!

Andy, have you considered using PWM splitters. When i move to the 540 ill be controlling 8 wingboosts of the cpu fan headers. All will ramp up or down at the same time

I think I do! So your mobo just decides on the speed itself depending on the temp? Unless my fans are just loud there is no reason for the PC to be this noisy, especially as it doesn't change when playing BF4!

Just received my Gigabyte 780 TI Windforce - Ordering Waterblocks :)

So work left to do?

Install waterblock when it arrives and top rad lol OH!!! GET another 8 pin braided extension lol I only had an 8 and 6 pin pffttt.

Build far from over!

ALSO ignore that horrible long tube from cpu to bot rad that was a emergency patch when i had to remove the DEAD!!! 290X!!!! >_> pfft.

This was the case before I had to emergency operate the 290x out of there and replace with the 780ti uff it was bliss.
