Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

Here's my revised setup:

It used to be a push/pull exhaust and the temps were OK but at 100% load got to 70C and that was at stock 2.8GHz (Q9550).

I have now moved it to the drive bay area with the aid of zip ties. Same push/pull Enermax clusters on the rad and I now have a Lian Li additional fan bay with an Akasa Apache pulling air in to it.

Now the temps are like so:

About 40 idle and 55 full load. This is after the computer has been on a while and the room has warmed up. Can be as low as 30 idle when first switched on. Considering this room is very small, there's two people, two dogs, two computers and mines close to a radiator I'm quite happy with the temps. I'm also running at 3.4HGz now.

I could onl do better if I added higher CFM fans but the noise is just about right for me now. I'd only consider moving to a full custom loop if I wanted more performance.

I'm using 2 x Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900RPM push and pull out of the back of my antec 900, Keeping my Q9550 oc 3.9ghz at max load seeing max temps of 55c. The thing that seemed to make a lot of difference to my temps was a decent fan controller as my last fan controller couldn't handle much, but my new fan controller can handle 60w per channel which seems to help a lot!! I also used Arctic Silver 5.

in the middle of the fan is a spinning motor well when that blows air forward there is a dead zone where the motor is...like the eye of a tornado..windy on the outside and calm on the inside
using a shroud helps to reduce this dead zone so when the air is being blown through the shroud at the radiator its causing a reduction of the deadzone which mean more air coverage go through the radiator which means better cooling temps :D

wouldnt use one on the pull as that fan has to suck the air from the radiator so would hamper the Efficiency of the push pull effect,so stick to using only on the push fan.

you can make your one shrouds by finding some old fans you no longer want and cutting (dremmel) out the motor and support beams then find some 6x32x 2.5" (65mm) bolts and that will help you attach a 25mm fan to a 25mm shroud with gaskets and h50....you can use spacer or washers to make up whats left of the bolts length if needed. :)

read around loads of modding advice for this sort of thing:D
if in the uk contact me via trust for online shop that sells black bolt/screws for standard h50 bolts and longer ones for fan+shroud sizes
delivery is usally next day.

please note Corsair H50 uses Usa standards for its threads so dont even bother with the M3-M4 sizes...wont fit

sizes i used were

25mm fan + gasket attached to h50 =
6-32 x 1 1/4 UNC Cap Screws (black finish)

25mm fan + gasket + shroud + gasket attached to h50 =
6-32 x 2 1/2 UNC Cap Screws (black finish)

bear in mind some of these might use hex keys which will be size 2.8 which can be boughtfrom same place also.:)

hope that helps anyone reading.

didnt realise the sig was too big due to the system not complaining :) hope its looking ok now ive trimmed it :D sorry :( me bad :D

oky dokies back to the shroud :P...

heres also some images for you of one i made out of an old 120 25mm loom

I've noticed there are a few P182 owners with these. How are you mounting them? I recently bought a H50 but am wondering how to install it. I have all the same fan configs as the norm, but with an added intake in the main section.

1) Mount to rear exhaust push/pull, leave other fans the same.
2) Mount to top exhaust. Push pull even possible clearance-wise here?
3) Mount to top as intake, other fans the same.
4) Mount to rear as intake, other fans the same.
5) Mount to location of top hard drive enclosure (removed), possibly with shroud tunnel of some sort? Will the hoses even reach this far, anyone tried it?

I'm looking for best performance really. I'm also worried about CPU power phases getting a little hot with no air over them, so can rearrange fans to suit. It's a Crosshair III Formula.

Lol OK I think I'll have a bash with the two fans I have later then....

Are all of you pushing the air out of the case?

Thats what i do. 1 noctua P12 exhausting held onto case with 2 gromets, radiator screwed onto it then the other P12 onto the radiator with other 2 screws, again blowing air out
