To be honest I have no idea if 4 cores run cooler or hotter than 6 cores
From what you say 4 cores should be cooler?????
Surely my i7920 is at or near the peak of its performance so maybe likely to run hotter???
NathWraith - quick question on mounting.
Do you know if I will be able to use the H70 retention ring/screws to mount the pump onto the H50 backplate, or even use the H50 ring/screws on the H70 pump ?
Forgot to mention because the Ft02 pulls air in at the bottom and its pushed out of the top, the H70 is pulling air out of the case as well, didnt want to mess with the airflow as it cools the motherboard really well.
Cheers
Right, just got home and installed it, took the two Vipers off my H50 and put them on the H70.
I'm running my 920 D0 with a 1.272 vcore getting 4.2GHz, my old H50 would reach a max temp of 87-89c but with this I'm getting temps of 80c when running Prime95. So thumbs up from me![]()
Hi all, To be totally honest, I am generally disappointed with the temps..I would certainly not recommend anyone who already has a H50 to upgrade as it just not a viable upgrade
Basically you can get better cooling than the H50 if you have both the corsair fans running at 2000rpm but that just not an acceptable level of noise
Running at 2000rpm drops my temps around 4c but running at 1600rpm is within far better sound levels but no different temp wise from my H50
Basically if you were to put two 2000rpm fans on your H50, I guess you would still see the 4c drop so there really is no point at all upgrading from the H50.
I guess it's arguable that the paste will need time to cure.
Cheers all
A disappointed mrix![]()
