Couch Surfing

I'd seriously consider doing this myself, as I'm travelling alone so it would be an awesome way to meet people and get a free tour guide :D

Unfortunately I'm flying out in a few days, so I don't really have the time to arrange anything. But I might look into it more after I've left the country, depending on how things go.
 
Got a friend who's currently in Croatia who does this, he's actually meeting up with two brazilian girls and another mate to go to Wacken festival in a couple of weeks, all arranged through the site. Seems a good idea, I might try it next year.
 
i know a few people who've both stayed and hosted, and they've had mainly positive experiences. there was one guy in moldova (:rolleyes:) who tried to rob them in the middle of the night though

i've never done it as i prefer to stay in hotels ;)
 
Sounds quite fun. It's free, right? So I would only have to pay for travel and other expenses?

Tempted to try this during a gap year...

Yes, it would be people like me who would abuse sites like these and the forthcoming trust of poor poor hot foreign students :D
 
Yeah I've used it three times in Australia. One place was like a slum because they just let anyone and eveyone stay there. at any one time there was about 15 couch surfers there, matresses and bags all over the place, it was pretty fun!

I'm a host too but not had anyone yet as not surprisingly, no-one wants to come to dundee.
 
I must admit I did initially have a vision of a chesterfield doing the pipe.

But actually, all in all this is a really cool gig. I like it and am seriously thinking of hosting. Soon as I get my garden tended to anyway. And a couple of other things.
