Could Amazon compete with Youtube?

They can't even compete with Netflix, nevermind Youtube. Netflix aim to never have video buffer, yet I get it enough on Amazon Prime to remind me not to use it unless I need to.

I find YouTube is really hammering the adverts recently, far more than it ever has been last month or so.

Tempted to get premium, but almost feels like giving in to them.

As said above, you can sign up for premium for a quid or two using an Indian VPN and random Indian address.

Better yet, download FreeTube for Windows, macOS or Linux. It's completely open source, and totally private. No tracking, no account, no analytics. It still connects to YouTube on the backend, so it's as fast as the real thing. There is an option to connect via Invidious backend if you prefer.

You can subscribe to channels, and set it up how you want (theme, remove elements like chat/comments/recommended videos) and best of all, it doesn't show any YouTube ads (or any ads at all). All data (watch history, subscriptions etc) is kept locally on your device and not sent to Google (or anyone else). If you watch via VPN Google has no idea who you are. Awesome software.

uBlock Origin uses way less resources, is more configurable, doesn't track you and is more extensible than ABP. It's also not in bed with ad companies. I'd suggest you check it out. It does everything ABP does and much more, and uses way less RAM and CPU to do it.
