Could AMD retreating to mid-range & Nvidia becoming out of affordability scope help optimization?

Amd supposedly have an Apu coming codenamed "AMD Strix Halo". The Graphics part is supposedly more powerful than a Ps5 and the cpu has 16 cores. While Ps5 levels of power is not that exciting to us that's pretty potent compared to todays Apu's. It supposedly has 2560 of RDNA 3.5 stream processors compared to the Ps5's 2304 RDNA 2 Stream Processors. Nothing is known of the clocks either so big gains over the Ps5 could be made there.

AMD Strix Halo

25% more shaders than the RX 7600 and RDNA 3.5.

Because its an APU i'll put it equal with the RX 7600 / RTX 4060 / RTX 2080 / RTX 3060Ti.

If the price is right that would make a good under TV entertainment box., or just an entry level gaming PC.

Price is key because as I've said and this video points out there is no market for high end gaming in an apu apart from gaming consoles

Good specs but you. probably need to set expectations a bit lower as it's never going to be as fast as RX 7600 due to memory bandwidth limitations.

He's right, there is no need for an 8 core CPU in an APU, the 8600G should have been 4 core 8 thread at $190 and the 8700G 6 core 12 thread at $240, $330 for the 8700G is daft because you can get a 6500XT and a CPU for the same money, it doesn't matter that the CPU even in the 8600G is much better, that's not the point, the point is to get a low end gamer on the cheap, a monster CPU is not needed.

Having said all of that, from the same company here's and APU done right for £125.

That's why i took the 25% off, it has 25% more shaders than the 7600.

I don't see how an APU could come close to replacing a $500 card. A DDR5 6200 kit has a memory bandwidth of 99.2GB/s. Even the Radeon 6500 XT has a much higher bandwidth than that at 231GB/s.
Yeah but consoles are running on all aggregated VRAM (essentailly) for the whole 'APU; - PS5 is 16GB GDDR6 at 448GB/s
