Council refuse charges

Well if they put it to court and you did not appear you would have been found guilty no questions asked I would have said.

We do not have issues with other people putting refuse in other peoples bins, we have not given residents bins so they still use bags. Think I have had one report in 3 years which we jumped on right away.

But my honest opinion is that these Councils that give people a 2 weekly collection on refuse and give them a stipid box to put recycling in ask for trouble.

Its all about money, I bet those that went to a 2 weekly collection have not seen a reduction in Council tax at all. We stand to save £500,000 a year by going to a two weekly refuse collection, the government give us £300,000 a year for recycling which is pants considering the amount we recycle sme 40% of the waste we collect is recycled.

The other side of the coin is that if we do not cut down the landfill directive will mean Councils pay more for landfill and I am sure they wont pay it out of funds it will come via Council tax, the worse thing is recycling is so dam easy but people just tend to be lazy and some of the problems need to be thrown back to the manafactures of food.

Peetee where do you live?

Start dumping you overflowing rubbish on the street, in the local park, spread it to the 4 winds. Then let the council sort it out from there, after all its up to them to sort it out. Junk mail? Put it all in your local postbox royalmail get payed to deliver it to you, let them recycle it all. Civil disobedience is the answer.

Can I just add one more thing I find some of the insults thrown at Council workers on this board well out of order, decisions on collections and the amount you get a year are taken by your elected members, the odds are that the Council Worker wrote a report telling them the good and the bad of moving to this type of collection, then presented this report to the members you elected and was then told what to do by these members.

I work very hard in the job that I do, and find some of the decisions taken by the members you elect compleately crazy, but you vote for these people, you can stand to be one of these people, just try and learn the difference between who makes the decisions and who has to do the ground job because they are not the same people and people like me go out of their way everyday to make people happy and resolve issues in a normal " I am not a moran " manner.

My aunt saved up the junk mail from her street for a year, 4 black bin bags of it then took it to the post office and emptied in inside the reception area.

/snip

My backyard is for 4 flats so we have 4 big black bins(rubbish) 4 big brown bins(gardern cuts) 4 big blue bins(paper) and 4 red containers(glass and tins)

Backyard 5mX5m with a total of 16 different coloured bins, other madness.

I agree mate, problem is people don't take note of who they vote for most times, it's the party and not the person they vote for. Working for a council I found the independent councillors were generally the hardest working, those in parties (con and labour) were extremely hit and miss, some having been councillors for many years.

Newcastle, we dont have recycling boxes as the area has quite a lot of tennants who dont give a rats really, in my old street there was loads of stuff dumped all over the street like i think i have said above, and a lot of the tennants were chinese who spoke POOR POOR POOR POOR english.. I doubt they would have understood what to do with the boxes as the council would have been too lazy to supply a translated timetable and instructions or w/e

Well two reasons that sucks but you may be blaming thw wrong people, you will have two different types of responsiblitys one is collection the other is disposal.

So we have the County Council who are in charge of disposing waste and the District Council who have to collect it, if the County have a facility like we have we can mix cans, paper, plastic and soon glass you get one bin, we currently dont collect glass from homes only *** big sites, but we are tied to what we can offer to what the disposal authority can take in, other countrys run dirty MRF's, which basically take all waste through it and take out the recycling and dispose of the crap, but are expensive to run.

Side not: Why should we have to provide instructions in other languages to tell them how to live in an english speaking country. Crazy waste of our money! better of puting it into compulsary english lessons so that one day they might be able to work within a british work force.

well basically everything goes in 1 bag/bin, thats not really helping me.
Should i seek legal advice or can i go rambo against the council?

Ours refuse to take our bins unless the lids are fully closed. Even one inch open they will leave them. I've seen them do it! Just means all our rubbish piles up on the floor next to the bins and the binmen just ignore it.

because some come here to study and dont plan on staying here. Some speak english but would not understand it so well, it would be easier to accomodate for all really wouldnt it? Save the money and spend it on english lessons? What happens if said person is here to work, what if they are above age of free education, or dont have enough time to do it?? What if they come here to learn english but take more than 1lesson to grasp the language?

How can educating every poor english speaking occupant of our country possibly be cheaper than offering some basic translated instructions.
get off your high horse and use your brain.

You then take it and dump it down by the shops, local park, lane what ever. After all the council by its action has told you to go get stuffed.

Might try that.. We let it pile up at my last house and the council sent us a letter accusing us of fly tipping, they didn't tell the lazy binmen to actually do their job collect my rubbish..

indeed its a sham, can we keep it on topic though, im in need of advice but dont want to put too much time into this atm as I have loads of stuff thats keeping me busy at uni, but ill be finished in few weeks..
The debt agency letter should have the reason im being charged shouldnt it? This is the only thing I know of that I can be charged for though, and literally 20mins before i got a phonecall i remembered about it and thought huh guess they never thought enough of it after all.

Shouldnt my court summons have been recorded delivery or something though? I never received anything as far as I know. Bit of a joke that really.
Im appauled to be honest, surely theres a better procedure than this?

Nope, if they posted it, it is treated as delivered.
