Counter-Strike 2

Vavle changed the way you can get gloves and knifes in and update. You can trade up covert weapons for chance to get then. This has made the gloves and knifes drop in price and other skins drop due to panic/loss in confidence in Vavle.
That sucks, Valve changed the posts and others have suffered and so has values.

Does this mean I can get a butterfly knife for <£25 or something? :D

I got my knife by flirting with a random lady for a few months who then gifted me a big black Bowie :D

e: she put this name tag on it cuz she knew I had kids hahaha

Cheating on CS has alway been a thing, at this points with external hardware cheats such as the above, DMA cards and running the cheats on a 2nd machine the cheaters are pretty much untouchable at the point.

It's already like that, winning team is the one with the beat cheater, hence why most of my play time is on faceit which is better, but still not perfect

Bit of a bump as this has gone quiet. Came back to CS2 properly a few weeks ago after a break, and I agree with nutsnut, cheating is still the main problem.

What's made it bearable for me:
- Not solo queueing Premier. Around the 10-15k range it felt like every other game had someone obvious. With a full stack it's much less painful, partly because you can all report and requeue together.
- FACEIT for anything I actually care about. Not perfect like he said, but the client anti-cheat stops a lot more of the lazy stuff.
- VAC Live cancelling matches has happened to me a couple of times, so it is doing something, it's just not catching the hardware setups.

The DMA stuff is the scary bit. Once the cheat runs on a second machine the gaming PC is clean, so client-side anti-cheat has very little to look at. The only real long-term answer is server-side detection of how people actually play, and Valve's been slow on that.

Anyone found Premier any better at the higher ratings?

Someone submitted their Phd thesis recently on pattern matching regular cheats, especially aim assist and irrational movement vs a normal player. I dont know its usable but he thinks it can be valuable for the total addressable market not just CS ; its not public yet but was on reddit

A few people have overwatch cases but nobody I know of

I saw that, looked very technical.

The problem is the anticheat and everything we are doing seems very re-active rather than pro-active.

Catching a cheater after they have already cheated and ruined games is good, but its still too late, and the damage has already been done.

Surely with the advent of AI the anticheat can be serverside and detect cheating mechanics early, then enforce action promptly rather than after the fact. Not sure Valve want to pay up for something like that though.

Ofcoarse with some people who really want to cheat and use secondary PCs and all sorts of tech - sure they will probably get away with it. But a lot of these cheaters are really lazy and I am sure if the anticheat was half decent they would just quit CS altogether.

Sadly i'm refusing to play the game i've loved for two decades due to cheaters and smurfs :(

I'm sure there isn't as many hackers as I think there is, but now, when someone is just having a really good day, the thought the might be cheating just ruins the enjoyment.

I do hope they can do something properly to stamp it out, but I feel like it's such a cash cow for them, that they don't really mind that much.

That plus everyone knows Gaben's baby is DOTA, been to like every major since it's release, hasn't been to a CS event in years and years
