So recently re-installed the game after a long absence, but your in-game name is now tied to your Steam name. What happens if you want to play using a few different names until you find your feet?

Just change your name in steam, but what's the benefit of changing your name until you find your feet?

You will be low ranked anyway so will be playing with people of similar rank

Don't see the point. You will hardly ever be matched with the same people in competitive matchmaking unless you play wingman basically the less popular games within. If all you play is 5 vs 5 then you will never play with the same people ever. It's completely random and so many people online you will never see the same person 2 games in a row.

I'm enjoying this at the moment, needed a break from the hot mess that is Warzone - if anyone fancies some MM games let me know, I'm probably ~GN1 at the moment and very rusty but solo-q is a nightmare.

Trying to get back into CS now im happy with my setup. But upon my return tonight..I played two MM and was greeted with almost unplayable *lag*???

My CPU / GPU usage is hardly breaking a sweat for it..

Today, I have been having issues with my internet, so, mabye that?

If anyone can advise me on settings to try, either in W10 / CS GO that would be great!

My setup is :

3900X
2070 Super
32gb 3200mhz RAM
 
A lot of the services are overwhelmed, the increase in players due to COVID lockdowns is massive. To put this in perspective (+ the game is growing in other regions of the world), the last 24h peak for CSGO players was 1,252,104. The peak in the last hour, 1,248,507. The all time peak ever for CSGO was the figure in the last 24h, 1,252,104. Even Faceit and such are struggling and servers are lagging.

Probably not you :). My specs are in my signature and it's buttery smooth in terms of game play but I am getting more laggy network drop moments than usual.
 
Played this today for the first time in what is probably years, reconnected with a couple of old mates I played through all the CS games with - they still play this on the regular.

My god it's still a regless, soulless game that for some reason just felt really disconnected. Did one competitive game, tied 15-15 and got ranked at GN3. How that compares to anything these days I have no idea, used to hover at LE/LEM and do pickups with SMFCs and GEs all the time, game feels very different to what I remember; shots don't land and spraying now seems near-impossible. :confused: I'm instinctively pulling my aim away from people expecting them to be dead and they're anything but!

I myself recently had a game of this last night after years of not playing.

I enjoyed it but I don't feel this is a game you can jump back into and be back into flow of it, it's mechanics and the shooting element too different to everything other shooter imo

Its like you always need to re learn C's if you take a break :/
 
I just can't get on with this, no one seems to chat or has any fun in the games. I like war games, but the competitive games are so boring.

Plus, where's DE_Aztec and DE_Dust?!
 
Just got my rank back im silver elite master. My regular teammates consist of Harold, Wyatt, Rick and Cecil. They dont use voice comms they just use radio commands which i find abit weird and they dont listen to anything i say. Never experienced such unhelpful players this game seems really toxic.

This is a discord attached to Reddit and they do arrange regular games, its far wider spread population but most games are regular players and the admin are in the games which rules out most troubles mm sees.

Any 'case' or collection with white or consumer skins in it has the most extreme luck required to get good drops.
