Couple of Corolla T-Sport questions!

Taa :)

I was eyeing it up already, and then went for it in the end because a few people on here recommended it, and it came with a free litre.

What is the best way to tackle a little rust scab/bubbling paint on the roof? It is near the aerial (about 4" in front) and is the size of a 2 pence piece.

With the GF's old Nissan Micra I tackled some rust scabs by sanding down to bare metal, then masking up, priming, sanding, and spraying with a rattle can, but I'd prefer a more delicate method for this car if possible.

Anyone know how much a body shop would charge to sort it? I wouldnt want them to re-spray the whole roof.

Most body shops would rather respray a whole panel rather than try and blend in a small repair - much easier to get a decent finish. I wouldn't have thought having the whole roof done would be more than £250.

A mobile "chipsaway" style repairer would probably do it, but I would think you will be looking at £100 or so for that (with the uncertainty of how good the repairer is)

The blemish doesn't bother me because of where it is, I just don't want the rust to spread. - So I expect a chipsaway repair would do me.

If you're happy to do the prep you could probably save a few quid by doing that bit yourself and then finding someone to paint it?

Good to see Toyota kept the rot in the same spot across cars. Our Aygo started leaking by the aerial. First I knew of it was I took a corner when it was raining and water poured out of the roof light into my lap. Then with me ignoring it for a considerable amount of time the inside light turned a lovely shade of rusty poo brown.

The Corolla only has that one rust spot thankfully. Although that is one more than the Polo has! :p

Changed the oil and oil filter today, the stuff that came out was disgusting, and looked like it hadn't been changed for... I dont want to think how long.

She idles a little more smoothly now, less of a rattle - though I did notice that the coolant appears to be water rather than coolant, so another thing on the list is to flush that out and put new in. :)

I also fixed a bit of the lower bumper trim which had come undone.

Oh, and Moxxi the Polo is gone now... :(
Chap came and bought her today, £550.

If you're considering changing coolant anyway then look at doing any preventative work you think is worthwhile in the system at the same time. The coolant itself can often be one of the most expensive oarts

Preventative work such as? :)

Running some kind of treatment through? Physically replacing pipes?

I mean any gammy looking pipes, bowed rad, stat housing that looks so brittle it might have been on there since the dawn of time, water pump if it's easily accessible, the tank itself if they tend to fail with age or its so discoloured you can't see the levels- that sort of thing

Nothig worse than spending money on coolant and time bleeding it properly only to have to drain it all again or watch it pour out on the drive a couple of weeks later

OK, what is the best way to flush the system though?

Tap water with the drain open. Then close the drain and fill with tap water. Bleed system, run the engine for a bit, get up to temp then empty. Repeat if you can be arsed. Refill with appropriate coolant:water mixture.
