Couple of Corolla T-Sport questions!

They will just have used a mirror and laser setup - ideally what you want is someone using a hunter (or similar) machine, which you will absolutely get a print out from(or at the very least shown the readigs). Or to go to someone who actually knows what they're doing even wothout one and can set a car up (hint, the garage you've went to won't).

It doesn't mean the car is going to be all kinds of out of alignment, potentially you cant even adjust it on certain axles/axis -but in my experience it is always worth getting it done properly unless your components are worn to buggery

Edit - example from the e46, can't find the last one for the civic

Could be simply tyre noise. All tyres can create different road noise, especially perhaps with your new meaty tread fighting whatever air is blasting against them (very technically worded, I know :D )

Any recommendations for oil, all? :)

I have no experience/personal preference with regard to oil. With the Polo I just used the same VW/Audi stuff as Dad did in his A6.

People seem to recommend Mobil 1 5W30, but some others recommend 10W40 because it smooths the engine out a bit and reduces the idle clatter, and some others are even using 0W40?

Should I get some good quality 10W40? Middle of the road?

Looking at this: https://www.motul.com/us/en-US/products/oils-lubricants/6100-synergie-10w40?

Setyres do have hunter equipment - the Brighton and Hove one certainly does - which I think is his nearest ;)

Nah there is one closer to me than that, in Lancing/Shoreham. I don't think they have hunter equipment? He did mention that for a "posh" tracking and alignment with a printout, I'd have to go to the Brighton one.

The Worthing seafront one? Or is there one near the Brooklands industrial estate? Yeah I took the Evo to the Brighton one when I lived nearby, although unfortunately it didn't (and still doesn't) have enough camber adjustment, so it sits at 2 degrees which is killing my tyres :(

Well the seafront one is quite close to the Brooklands industrial estate, so to eliminate any doubt, it is this one! :p

Looks like it should be 5W40. The manual should tell you the correct grade.

I don't have a manual, just the log book and a V5. :p

This stuff looks good. How important is it that it meets the exact manufacturer oil grade (API SL-EC or ILSAC), as that one doesn't: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68976-s...thetic-engine-oil-recommended-by-ferrari.aspx

This one does however, though it is more expensive and doesn't have the free litre? http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pv-98318-...?vehicleid=4732&yearfilter=2005&FitmentNotes=

5W40 is the correct viscosity, but would I be better with 10W40 as it is an 84,000 mile engine which will be driven fairly hard at times?

1 minute with Google and the opie oils website suggests 5w30 is the correct grade

Really? 1 minute with Google and the same website suggests 5w40 is the correct grade!

As a side note, this thread will soon have twice as many posts as the "official" VVTL-I thread! :p

I can't possibly imagine how that happened

Get a manual. Or ask Toyota - find out what is *supposed* to go in that car and put that in

For my Lexus I bought genuine Toyota 5w30 oil for £14.....was 5L :D:D

Give them a shot, all their lubricants were extremely competitive.
