1 minute with Google and the opie oils website suggests 5w30 is the correct grade

Really? 1 minute with Google and the same website suggests 5w40 is the correct grade!

As a side note, this thread will soon have twice as many posts as the "official" VVTL-I thread! :p

GSF and ECP both say 5W30.

But Opie suggests 5W40 for a Corolla with the 2ZZ-GE, as well as the Celica and Elise with the same engine.

Some forums I have looked at suggested that either would be fine, but Toyota say 5W30 and Lotus say 5W40.

I'm just looking through technical PDF's...

e; Service manual says 5W30. But forums are recommending 5W40 which is what Lotus recommend... Might go with 5W40 as it is a little thicker.

Incorrect spec oil and placebo performance oil filter arrived! :D

Clutch has started slipping badly today, have had a word with my mechanic about getting a replacement in.

What is the best way to tackle a little rust scab/bubbling paint on the roof? It is near the aerial (about 4" in front) and is the size of a 2 pence piece.

With the GF's old Nissan Micra I tackled some rust scabs by sanding down to bare metal, then masking up, priming, sanding, and spraying with a rattle can, but I'd prefer a more delicate method for this car if possible.

Anyone know how much a body shop would charge to sort it? I wouldnt want them to re-spray the whole roof.

Changed the oil and oil filter today, the stuff that came out was disgusting, and looked like it hadn't been changed for... I dont want to think how long.

She idles a little more smoothly now, less of a rattle - though I did notice that the coolant appears to be water rather than coolant, so another thing on the list is to flush that out and put new in. :)

I also fixed a bit of the lower bumper trim which had come undone.

Oh, and Moxxi the Polo is gone now... :(
Chap came and bought her today, £550.
