Well woke up this morning feeling rotten. Boom Covid strikes for the second time.

My app pings close contact for more than 15 minutes, so either on the train or at the Theatre on Saturday. :(

Delivery guy came to the door earlier and was like "Don't worry it's hay fever not COVID".

Wonder if they'll just make boosters available to those that want one, have friends in the US who are on their 4th shot now. Just turn up and get one apparently.

Hopefully.

In other news, the wife has now tested positive with the flavour that gives you aches and shivers.

Me, I'm on day 5 or 6 and I don't have any symptoms other than this dry cough which just isn't getting any better. I suppose on the plus side it hasn't really left me breathless or anything and o2 levels are great but it's as annoying as hell and it does feel like I need to cough some junk up soon.

Running is out the question at the moment, which is also doing my head in.

Seems to be a slow meander upwards so far cases/hospitalisation wise - critical care utilisation still on a downward trend from the last spike and not reflecting any changes yet. I'd be surprised to see a sudden significant spike now unless a very different variant came into play but it doesn't necessarily bode well for the winter if we go into that period with moderately elevated levels within society.

We have none in our ICU and haven't had any for a number of weeks.

Was at 0 for May and early June for my local district hospital but at 2 now - that is well down and overall still a downward trajectory in the bigger scheme of things compared to most of the pandemic.

I feel for the people working there - I've relatives who work there and family of co-workers also work there so hear a bit - they've been working totally flat out on the COVID wards for 2 years - even when things have gone to virtually zero levels for a bit because of what is required to deal with the situation as a whole including being prepared for the potential future avenues it could take.

Day 9 and I have today just tested negative on LFT, been a really rough ride to be honest, just the groggyness bad cough and sinus issues, the heat and hayfever has not helped.

Then theres the weird dreams and night sweats.

Chest still feels really sore with a cough coming every now and then but just about passed it. Nasty nasty ****ing virus.

Luckily could work from home where needed so hasn't affected work in the slightest, resting up now until Monday to clear it off for good.

How many people are ONS are asking each week about covid symptoms? How do people report cases now as no PCRs/testing centres now for 2.5 months

They do it once a month for their study, they've reduced participants though, we were on the study but it seems we were part of those culled, I presume it's more a money saving exercise than needing less data because those £20 vouchers per visit soon add up

So how are the stats being taken now?

Tom can I ask, did your cough remain dry/unproductive or did it break at some point followed by hacking up chunks of ex-lung?

I ask cause I'm on day 7, still testing quite strong positive and the cough is just dry as a board.

It broke and is productive especially so in the morning. One morning was coughing up mega alien goo.

Dry cough during day but has calmed down a lot....

With the Moderna deal I still haven't seen how much financing the UK tax payer is making , is that free facilities in cambridge ?
(it's like the post brexit cash injection for gigafactories to try and keep an auto industry)

Myself and my partner both had covid a few months back. Symptoms were a fierce burning sore throat for days, followed by a cough that lingered for about a month.

In the last couple of weeks we've both had an illness, a mild sore throat, followed by a few days of sinuses leaking like a tap, but no cold symptoms, fever or anything. Felt completely fine apart from the bloody snot deluge.

One of the new variants? Just symptomatic of a recent re-infection?
