CPR W3 on Hairworks(Nvidia Game Works)-'the code of this feature cannot be optimized for AMD'

Well the thread was getting quite heated, so I tried to diffuse it.

It would be cool if TressFX was added but hopefully it would be an option for NVidia users to use, unlike 50% of the other TressFX games.

As gpu PhysX doesn't work on AMD, is everything enabled on AMD BAO?

Edit-Mantle isn't dead yet:p, think it's running AMD VR.

Yes but why have they done 64x and not just 16 or even 8x, for the screenshots posted so far, there is virtually no difference between 64 and 8/16, I am sure that they are not only just reducing FPS for AMD cards but also for nvidia cards as well. I would love to see how many more fps nvidia cards would get if they could set tess. to 16/8

Artificially creating a performance drop off to drive profit, probably coining it in from their own user base, Fermi, Kepler users far out number AMD AND M2 combined, M2 series upgrade/SLi sales too.

Apparently it does. Someone here confirmed that PhysX works nicely for them with AMD and B:AO

GPU PhysX does not work on AMD BAO, who confirmed it did?

Ermmm, I don't recall saying GPU PhysX, I said PhysX but I will leave it, as I am not up for a tit-for-tat argument :)

Sorry mate, not feeling any argument, lets roll it back to the QnA

GW's has other Nvidia exclusive IQ too, apex smoke/cloth/TXAA???

Difference being, Rockstar kept the title gpu agnostic and didn't include any of the controversial GW's solutions=zero ****storm.

No they didn't.

No Hairworks or NVIDIA-Enhanced DirectX 11 Tessellation, they obviously decided not to use them, no surprise that they weren't added really-it's demanding enough, quad TX@720p in the grassy areas, no ta.:p

GW's has a bad smell surrounding it and rightly so.

Gameworks it not just hairworks there lots other things like PCSS and TXAA

You being deliberately obtuse or not getting it?

R* steered well clear of the specific controversial GW's effects-Hairworks/NVIDIA-Enhanced DirectX 11 Tessellation, they don't need to take a bung/guaranteed sales-it's the biggest title of the year on PC and sells itself.

Googlefu 'Nvidia Game Works Witcher 3'

The headlines decide what's controversial and by the lack of the inclusion into GTAV is a fair pointer to why they used what they wanted and weren't dictated to what they had to put in-succinct difference, much like the lack of acknowledgement that those techniques are harming ALL gpu's performance not just AMD...

@LambChop,

I'm not a mod mate, whether he's commented out with the vendor guidelines, it'l remain or be removed rtm it if you have issue.

but why is Hairworks controversial and not TressFX? Why no/less **** storm over vendor locked features like HD3D/Mantel/3D Vision/sli/xfire etc. No wait its only Nvidia features that are bad and AMD can do no wronge.

If you don't like hairworks, don't use it its never required or forced, if you want TressFX talk to AMD and to a lesser extent a game developer.

'Switching it off' is a cop out mate.

I don't have a clue how AMD can harm Nvidia users using GW's, AMD does plenty wrong, that's why I'm running three Nvidia systems and zero AMD:p.

It's Nvidia writing GW's code causing massive impact on Nvidia performance, nothing to do with AMD.;)

Nvidia are calling ti a GameWorks title:
http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2015/04/14/grand-theft-auto-v/

Also, Rockstar DO consider it a Gaming Evlolved title, if you look at the bottom of this page:
http://www.rockstargames.com/V/info/pc/specs

EDIT: Just realised this was the same Nvidia link posted above.

Confusion overload, I may be wrong but if you take matts reply based from the original topic:

I would like to know why every gameworks title has micro-stutters on my pc regardless of the gameworks features being disabled, is it just me or do other AMD GPU users have this issue?

GTA 5 and any other recent non-gameworks title all run very smoothly.

Probably explaining why it runs fine on AMD, because GW/GE aren't exclusive to GTAV

Runs well on both vendors as far as I am aware?

Pre 15.5 Beta, the 970 was running smoother than 290X ;)

Matt said GTA V wasn't a Gaming Evolved game, but there's a Gaming Evolved logo on the game's website. So is it or isn't it?

It is a gpu agnostic title, it isn't exclusive to any one vendor, it is simply using techs from both camps without favouring either.

GameWorks/GE exclusive titles are vendor funded, GTAV isn't either.

If that doesn't make it any clearer for you, pm him./

:)
