CPR W3 on Hairworks(Nvidia Game Works)-'the code of this feature cannot be optimized for AMD'

I dont dissagree, that it would be nice if the game supported both TressFX and Hair Works and as users we could choose etc...

But dont forget one thing. This is a Game Works title. It's an Nvidia exclusive.

I am not just talking about comparing tess. between the 980 and 290(x), but just in general, why people compare 2 very different cards? Assuming that we weren't getting new GPU's this year, do you really think most people would be willing to pay an extra £200+ for a card just because of its tess. performance (especially when in actual game performance, there isn't a huge difference unless the developer has added a ton of tess. which results in no real benefit to the visuals and they just did it for a certain purpose....)?

Again, did I say tess. performance was good for AMD?.

Ok sorry, I thought we were discussing tess.

If the developer added x64 for Nvidia, they obviously knew they can handle it. AMD has a slider, so they can reduce it. Everybody wins.

Well the thread was getting quite heated, so I tried to diffuse it.

It would be cool if TressFX was added but hopefully it would be an option for NVidia users to use, unlike 50% of the other TressFX games.

There is a worrying trend going on in the computing world IMO, too many technologies forcing us on one side or the other, like the video recorder Betamax vs VHS battle in the 70s.

Not really. Everything in GameWorks works on AMD as I understand it. AMD users have said that using the Tessellation slider in the CCC helps with HairWorks and they can't see a graphical difference but frames improved, so no loss there. Mantle is dead, so in reality, everything works on each others (except the monitor tech).

As gpu PhysX doesn't work on AMD, is everything enabled on AMD BAO?

Edit-Mantle isn't dead yet:p, think it's running AMD VR.

I would like to know why every gameworks title has micro-stutters on my pc regardless of the gameworks features being disabled, is it just me or do other AMD GPU users have this issue?

GTA 5 and any other recent non-gameworks title all run very smoothly.

Yes but why have they done 64x and not just 16 or even 8x, for the screenshots posted so far, there is virtually no difference between 64 and 8/16, I am sure that they are not only just reducing FPS for AMD cards but also for nvidia cards as well. I would love to see how many more fps nvidia cards would get if they could set tess. to 16/8

Artificially creating a performance drop off to drive profit, probably coining it in from their own user base, Fermi, Kepler users far out number AMD AND M2 combined, M2 series upgrade/SLi sales too.

Apparently it does. Someone here confirmed that PhysX works nicely for them with AMD and B:AO

GPU PhysX does not work on AMD BAO, who confirmed it did?

The Monitor tech is a big deal though. Unlike video cards a lot of enthusiasts don't replace there monitors every 18months like they would with video cards. If you bought a ASUS Swift for example you probably paid £650+ so that monitor could potentially be sitting on someone's desk for the next 5 years. An AMD will never be used to drive that monitor in the meantime.

True that. I generally keep the same monitor longer than most PC parts and being that I own a ROG Swift monitor and ran it on a 290X, the results weren't pretty. If you want G-Sync/Freesync, you need to look at staying with a particular vendor in reality. Freesync will see you staying AMD and G-Sync will see you staying nVidia. I still have a 7950 and would like to use that for some comparison vids but it is a ball ache to get the Swift running on it, so it sits atop a cupboard :(

Ermmm, I don't recall saying GPU PhysX, I said PhysX but I will leave it, as I am not up for a tit-for-tat argument :)

Sorry mate, not feeling any argument, lets roll it back to the QnA

GW's has other Nvidia exclusive IQ too, apex smoke/cloth/TXAA???

So you are suggesting CDPR don't really care about AMD users. Because they are the ones who are inputting the tessellation factor and geometry.

It's all so dark and shadey. Exciting stuff...

I'll stoop to 'classic Tommy' with a quote from Forbes magazine.

If you want a huge AAA game release to look great on your hardware, you take the initiative to ensure that it does. What you don’t do is expect your competitor to make it easier for you by opening up the technology they’ve invested millions of dollars into. You innovate using your own technologies. Or you increase your resources. Or you bolster your relationships and face time with developers.

In short, you just find a way to get it done.
