CPU Cooler Clearance Issues

Somethings just not making sense... If the OPs cooler fouls the GPU, then it would foul every GPU in in every build, and they wouldn't get very good reviews*

Yeah I know they are arguably overpriced, but still, if it litereally didn't fit properly they wouldn't get very far.

Is the Nvidia card out of spec? as in, does it sit higher up than it is supposed to?

This was my thinking originally. Something isn't quite what it seems?

Maybe the CPU socket is lower than standard? What's his board, then look at top view and compare against others.
Is that even a thing?

It wouldn't comply with ATX standard though, in that event?

*i know his board is MATX but the same principals apply

I'm just confused now! Lol!

Yeah there must be some confusion around the mounting hardware and the additional offset bracket.. That's all I can think of...

I mean if noctua were selling CPU coolers that fouled GPUs there would be a massive **** storm about it...

I can see 'tech Jesus' from gamers nexus having an absolute field day!

Exactly that mate, hopefully it's an easy fix and he doesn't have to buy anything other than some thermal paste ;)

Sorry for the delayed reply, the joy of newborns! I have taken as many pictures as possible of the mounting, how I had it with the normal bracket and some additional pictures with the offset ones. From the looks of things they can only go in one orientation?

I've never built an AM5 so I can't really help... What's the offset bracket thing you were taking about? What does that look like?

Another option would be to send some pics to noctua and see if they can offer advice?

No worries mate :)
Try dry mounting it without paste, without the optional bracket, and see if you can mount the heat sink 180 degree's, upsidedown as it were, then do the same with the bracket - that way you don't waste paste, and will find out if there's a solution, then can use the paste once you've figured it out :)

Funnily enough I had the same thought and reached out to them yesterday, this was their response.

"If you would like to increase the distance between the CPU cooler and the GPU we would recommend adjusting the mounting configuration to not use the offset mounting option. However, we would not see a cause for concern as the pictures seem to indicate that the two components are not touching and therefore not interfering with each other."

So did you try it without the offset mounting, like I suggested? That should solve your problem :)
