CPU Cooler Clearance Issues

Crazy, it's a bit silly calling it a standard then :P
Or I suppose it's more a case of that manufacturers, don't comply to it?
No, it's not a mater of manufacturers not complying, there simply is not a specific CPU socket placement. If I remember correctly Intel did the basics motherboard component placement and some say they didn't place CPU socket because they only had Intel sizes which range from 37.5x45, 75x75, 78x78, 90x90, to 105x105mm. AMD has several different socket sizes like 40x40, 54x90, 68x75, 90x90, 67x106, etc.

It would seem sensible to use a standard bases on center point of socket which is great for square sockets. But what about rectangular ones? Should length run front to back or top to bottom?
There's also the problem of laying out the literally thousands of traces (CPU/socket model number is number of contacts it has) from socket's contact pins.

Seems socket location is indeed not part of the standard!

So in that case there is no compliance issue...

That's me schooled then lol!

Fantastic news everyone, I’m an idiot! Well not quite, but it turns out with the normal mount it has made quite the difference.

Originally when dry mounting it didn’t appear like it had many any space, but after adding the GPU it’s got a good sized gap now that I’m happy with!

Additionally, I have also ran a prime95 test after repasting and at full throttle I’m only seeing a max temp of 61c!

What a glorious day, praise the emperor.

Thanks everyone to all your help and suggestions, big love to the OCUK forum.
Ah mate, that's great news, you're very welcome, I'm glad my suggestion worked :)
There is nothing better than fixing something for free!
The temps are nice a bonus, too! There clearly was heat transfer then, like I feared.
