CPU & MB Temps

Get a nice thermaltake case or something from ocuk,

Look for ones with 2 or 3 fans, 120mm ones :)

A good case providing good cool air intake and good hot air exhaust. I.e.. a fan at the front and back fitted with 120MM would be nice. :) One on the roof would be even better... but I've not seen many cases with ones on the roof though. :(

right my old xp-m used to run up to about 55c, when it got to 60c it used to reset the pc.

new opteron runs way cooler at 48c max load.

if you are worried about your temps then run snm fpu test for about an hour and see how hot your cpu gets. if its under 55c then there is nothing to worry about.

no point telling us what your idle temps are because thats is whats confusing everyone. you mention that your temps are 38c, i thought that is your idle temps which would be a little on the high side since my cpu idles at around 26-28c depending on room temp.

until you run a stress tester to find out your max load temps your not going to get anywhere.

idle at 40 is not too bad i guess, my old xp-m idled at almost 40c but your A64 should run a lot cooler even on stock heatsink.

i suspect your case cooling is not as good as it can be.

why are his motherboard temps really high? maybe that reading is the chipset temp, not the ambient.

CPU Temp = 38
M/Board Temp = 40

I have double checked , i am very disapointed , i had better temp readings with my old cooler Akasa AK856

i think james.miller means the chipset on the motherboard is 40, rather than the ambient temp of the motherboard. and i really wouldnt worry about those temps they arent that bad at all cpus are safe up to like 60 and you cant really trust temp probes anyway. mine read 59 on the cpu with swiftech water cooling. using a proper temperature probe the reading was found to be nearer 36 :/

all progs like that use the same sensors though. all sensors have tolerances so dont give the right readings usually + some just dont work at all :P
