Crashed Helicopter registered to Colin McRae

yep a freind of mine who used to train with collin hasnt been able to get hold of him all day:(

Likewise, a friend of mine knows Dave Plant who built the chassis for the R4. Its confirmed that McRae and his son are dead. Terrible news.

Bet it won't be long before Ford release some sort of tribute model Richard Burns style.

A very sad day :(

Has it been confirmed that he was on board?

So sad if he has died, he was a legend, he was on that sky one Vroom show couple of years back and they went to his estate and he had a collection of his rally cars and he was rebuilding his very first rally car and he was a nutter on his estate with motorbikes and qauds, I never know why these people have helicopters, I know they are fast and easier than driving but they are so dangerous.

Great video:(

I always thought this was kind of 'epic', kind of sad I know but the part at the end had me throwing my hands in the air cheering

McRae proberly made Subaru what they are today in the UK.

Im still trying to take it in, i used to watch the rally highlights every Friday night - and then the full weekend when the WRC was in the UK.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

made me feel sick, seen him a few times @ various stages in the uk, an amazing talent what a shame.

thoughts whith his wife Alison and his daughter Hollie who must be really going through it now

R.I.P Colin, Johnny and the other people in the accident

As you can tell, I don't post often

But RIP Colin, you were a true legend. You made rally, your flamboyant style, total commitment, and unrivalled speed made you a god in my books.

One of the true motorsport legends is gone.

I own every colin mcrae game and am going to spend all day tomorrow celebrating his life.

RIP Colin, and RIP all other casualties.

Absolutely gutted for the bloke. He made rallying what it is today. He may not have been the best... But if it wasn't for his video games young children would have dismissed the rallying scene.....

However due to his games it made children give an interest in rally driving....

He also made Subaru what it is today in the UK....

RIP man! You were an absolute legend!

It would still be bad... but not as bad if he died rallying.... but in a bloody helicopter crash :(

Dam I didnt know about this until just now :(

I used to hammer his ps1 game that came out years ago and watch the rally stuff on tv.

RIP Colin and RIP to his Son and anyone else who died.

He really was the Pavarotti of rallying - even your grandma has heard of him.

What always struck me from watching him on TV was how relaxed and composed he seemed behind the wheel. He made it look easy!

ITV just announced that the police have said there were 4 people onboard and they believe one of them is Colin. Won't find out until tomorrow officially though.

RIP
