Man, it's taken me over 5 years to build up 100 posts, despite frequenting the forums and buying off OCUK.

At this rate it'll be another 45 years before I qualify! I plan to be dead by then!

Edit: and I doubt my computer would be worth much by then either.

Free Delivery isnt affected by this. This is the MM only.

There appears to be many traders with 4-500 posts constantly in there buying and selling in a suspicious manner
. Not only this but we have seen cases with people who have 100posts and have been here a year+ all of a sudden spam to gain access.

Spamming to 1000 posts will certainly get noticed so there will be very few who will manage to slip through!

I asked for 2000 posts and a year :D

how would increaseing new members access to 1000posts, stop the people who are already posting in a suspicious manner as there access wont be affected?

I just dont get it tbh. How would me logging on everyday, posting in the discussions forum about the weather or what David Cameron had for breakfast make me less of a scammer?

I think it just deters people from joining just to scam in the MM. If they have to spend a few hours spamming posts in order to access it they are less likely to join up just for that. Also if they then get banned after trying to scam and then have to post another 1000 times they are even less likely to re offend.

Sounds like someone is a bit miffed they cant have MM access at 250 posts :P

You participate in the community and you get access.

It is not a forum for you to just come on and tout your wares.

how would i wanna "tout my wares" by looking for a cheap second hand graphics card on MM?

oh well, looks like ill be posting more in the general discussion area about "tulisa's sex tape" and fridge freezer advice, because thats what i would normally do on an overclockers forum

Looks like I need to start being more active then! Keep seeing posts about 'look at MM for cheap version' but it pains me to not see these deals people are offering! I understand the reasoning though, the internet really can be a crap place sometimes :(

Well you could go and post about technology in the technology sections. Or cars in the motors section OR boats in the boats section...OR even food in the food section. This is a very diverse forum and its not hard to get posts about something you find interesting.

See you've gained 10 today just asking about the MM :p

Contribute. :)

MM is over rated anyway, just people selling their old junk :D

Makes note to remove access.

whilst i dont really agree with the way it was said, i can also see the point.
i dont have MM access and wont have for a long time. but i am a member of a lot of other fourums and the classifeds are a great place.

whils i CAN and HAVE seen the need for rules like this i can also see the advantages of being allowed to buy from the MM,

people who are learning about or just getting into computers are the people most likely to buy second hand parts from the MM, also people (like myself) feel underqualified to post in most of the sections due to just starting to learn about it. this is made worse when people are being accused of spamming or trolling, sometimes it just puts you off posting.

MM access isn't a right, it's a privilege for members who contribute to the forums so if it's the sole reason people want to join OcUK then that's a bit unfortunate but if they are discouraged by the requirements then they've probably not going to have made a particularly big contribution anyway.

I don't know about that, I'd have thought that if you were just learning about computers you're most likely to buy new to be sure of compatability and to have a definite valid warranty. However that's sort of beside the point, generally I've found people to be quite helpful and supportive when questions are asked or if advice is offered - there's doubtless exceptions but hopefully people aren't regularly getting accused of trolling/spamming without cause.
