Surely with Bootcamp officially supporting Vista x64 then the driver issue isn't there as Bootcamp will load the drivers for your kit for you when you install the Bootcamp partition.

I hadn't been following the Bootcamp support for Vista x64.

However, I am now officially chuffed, was worried I'd have to mess with Vista for the odd game/app.

FYI: Total cost; £2,555

how much he discount u get?

24Ghz of processing power...

Don't suppose you have a wattmeter and could get a figure for the power draw of that thing, CPU maxed out of course. ;)

If he gets SP1 for Vista, that restriction for 32bit is gone.

SP1 does not lift the restriction is just displays the full amount of memory installed you are still stuck with it only being able to use around 3 gig of it.

Vista 64 also runs fine under bootcamp.

Nice spec on the Pro aswell, been looking recently into changing my laptop to a MBP and had a play with very similair spec Mac Pro at the apple store they flung some video encoding at it and it was rather rapid !!

My 27" Dell monitor looks rather good with the mac as it has an aluminium bezel to it as well and the panels not exactly bad :) The rest of your spec is rather simliar to mine except I've got the 2.8s instead of the 3s

Only thing which might be worth looking at is the new 640GB WD drive, meant to be a bit of a monster performance wise and dead quiet.

Also give me a shout re the memory might be able to help you out with that...

EVH you go through macs faster than most people go through pints of milk <-- couldn't think of a decent analogy.

It's only because I'm jealous. :p

N.B the ACD - I have a Dell 24" and I use the 30" a bit at uni and to be honest I find the 30" too big. the 23/24" filla your field of view nice and conformably from a normal desk position where as with the 30" you either need to be a mile away from it or you move your head around all the time looking at different parts of the screen.

I'm planning on an 23" ACD when they upgrade the line. I'm not in any rush at the minute.

Bah, I'll whip you an email via Gmail Justin.

I'd love Apple to upgrade the cinema displays on Tuesday (so my order is modified automatically) but I haven't seen any rumors :(

I agree with the 30" comment, Panzerbjorn, that's why I opted for the 23".. I didn't want neck strain! lol

FYI: This is my dream setup;

(Those really show the size of the 23" ACD too, which swung it for me)
