Refuse the delivery of the WD when the CityLink guys shows up and it gets returned to OCuk for free. Otherwise you'll pay if you return it yourself on Monday :)
 
Is the slow raid performance a firmware thing, can it be fixed? I had normal HDDs raided and my boot time was noticeably faster. Boot time doesn't bother me as much as application/game load time however so I should see improvements in those areas if I RAID 0 2 of these right?

Oops, Home Delivery Network (HDN). Yes it is possible to do that. I found out one time when I tried to cancel an order from a competitor. I did exactly as you did and called them ASAP and was then given that little tip above by the CS agent after he told me it was already despatched.

You tell the delivery guy you want to refuse delivery because you tried to cancel the order but was too late. He/she might have a slight grumble, since they have a bit of extra paper work to do to return the item to the depot, but that's about it.
 
Does anyone know the controller chip on these?
presuming with a cache it won't have the i/o write issues - but want to be sure befoore I finally take the SSD plunge.

why it's not listed on the Crucial site when the price is still at geek buying level and said geeks will know about I/O issues makes me wonder...

That's because hard disks are much slower and you need RAID just to have a chance of keeping up. A single fast SSD is all you need.

I'd already settled on vertex or agilty until these popped up - you just have to jump in sometime but until W7 arrives in October there might be more drives released.. agh!

What's the random access time like for this babe? 0.1? Weird that this figure (to me at least) is the most important one, but not advertised?
 
Just bagged a 128gb :-).. dammit.. forgot the bracket.. on the phone quick!!!!!

Theyve still not arrived, but they are still due in today.. so fingers crossed!!

Would be really good to know IOPS performance on these, compared to the intel, but I suppose they wouldnt be too dissimilar to the vertex... I know the intel is supposed to wipe the floor with most other SSDs when it comes to writing, due to hi IOPS, despite their low write speed on paper...

I'll be asking for my Saturday delivery payment back if they don't arrive today ;)
 
Extra £15 for saturday delivery, but as I won't be in on monday and it gives me the weekend to sort out, I don't really care :) Just called them up and sorted it :)
 
I would have thought that Ocuk would have had these in for a before 12 delivery to get the pre orders shipped, i have a feeling they won't be in today!
