Cruel? or Awesome?

I can't watch Anything like that. :o

Yes I eat meat but that's the important bit I Eat it.
Having said that I don't live over there & have absolutely No idea the effect these Hogs are having on farmers livelyhoods & food production.
Either way I can't watch it & don't like it being filmed, If they need to bring down the Hog population there is no need to make entertainment out of it.

Shooting a large Hog running in an open field with an M4 from a helicopter is hardly awesome - Fair enough they have to do it as it's costing them lots of money but recording it as if they are doing some kind of epic action film is quite pathetic.

they are living creatures afterall that have every right to try and survive as we do

Sounds like a lot of fun:) Wonder if they get tourist wanting to shoot the pigs for them:)

Yeah there's good business to be had out there offering 'hunts' (I use the term loosely) for the townies. I have several friends who make a very good living from it.

They are pests so need culling, not sure they use the most cost-effective way of doing it using a Helicopter though, and the full Camo gear whilst inside the chopper is just silly really, they are Yanks, they will always use a sledgehammer to crack a walnut, they just don't know any other way.

Do you know how big the US is? They are probably doing it the most cost effective way considering the distances involved.
And by the way, the reason they are wearing camo is because it's darned good clothing! Being in an open helicopter is quite cold and you would need some proper clothing.

Its effective, and justifyed.

But far from the most humane way of killing the poor things, most of his shots were way off where they should have been resulting in a drawn out death for some of the hogs IMO.

7:26 .. three rounds to the stomach bleeding on the floor alive, thats not good marksmanship :(

weird how people complain that it's cruel to kill animals from a helicopter but perfectly fine to shoot other humans from a helicopter.

I don't see why they need the camo gear on, do they think the hogs will look up and go oh its just a helicoptor and carry on there business,

They've been playing to many War games.

If they need to lower the population then make it close range killing, this is just for fun to me..

It's probably the stuff he uses when he goes hunting normally.

What's the point in buying a new set of warm clothes to use in a helicopter when you have a perfectly good set already?

Oh noes, they're enjoying it. What's the difference? Plenty more fun to be had one on one than shooting a couple of dozen from a chopper as a means of culling, believe me.

Well to be fair the people being shot from the helicopter probably have guns of their own and aren't running away in an open field :p

Wait, your telling me getting a helicopter to shoot hogs on a regular basis is CHEAPER than buying.... DUN DUN DUNNNNNN! A FENCE!?

few miles of fencing + the repair cost of hogs breaking it every other week and still getting in?

yep shooting them is probably cheaper.
