Crying at films

The 1st time i watched k-9 about 8 years ago i was welling up at the end, you know the bit ;) Though everytime after that i havent as i knew what was coming.

I cry at movies all the time. It's just as healthy to express sadness as it is to express happiness. Expressing your emotions enforces emotional stability, keeping them locked up is what causes mental issues. I found out from a young age that my EQ (which is your emotional intelligence) was quite above normal.

The whole alpha man thing regarding not crying is a farce. It doesn't make you any less of a man. To understand and feel the raw emotion behind a message or story is the ability to truly appreciate and understand empathy and ultimately the trait that makes us human. Fair enough if you're just trying hard not to show emotion because you think your girlfriend won't dig it, but to actually not feel anything just shows a dense character in my opinion. A lack of understanding.

+1

Listen to this man ... he gets what it's all about.

Been welling up/shedding tears at films that merit it since I saw "The Champ" when I was about 8.

Chicks dig emotional guys ..... FACT ! ;)

I have had a good winge at a series of films.

Karate Kid 3: Keeping in mind I was tiny when I seen this at the pics. I just didn't want to see Daniel hurt his hand.

Great Escape: Around about the same age. 'The Forger' was blind when he got shot god dam it. He wasn't trying to escape!!!

Terminator 2: The good T800 Endo skelington getting lowered into the hot steel.

Shawshank Redemption: That is one sad film. Espicially when Brooks gets released from prison.

Green Mile: The end is one major bluberfest.

Nobody's Fool: You have to watch it to understand.

Big Fish: I remember trying to remove the bowling ball from my throat in the pics. Saying that I could have freely burst into tears as my ex GF at the time was crying for everyone.

There is nothing wrong with your female side overpowering you. You can always admit it instead of writing rivers of well constructed arguments to pass it off as the norm.

Did nobody else have a tear in their eye in Return of the King when Aragorn says "For Frodo" and charges at the orc army?

And why exactly do you attribute crying to females only, out of interest? Because society told you to? Or have you come to your own reasonable (perhaps scientific??) reason?

No. Frodo should have died the little *** Hobbit.

BTW, talking of dog films, what about Turner and Hooch? I am welling up thinking about it.:(

No I haven't, my emotional response is much the same as it's always been.

Obviously with the exception of films which mirror or remind me of tragedies that have happened in my life in more recent years.

Hormones? Females are more prone to express emotion (are you aware of the menstrual cycle and their emotional storm, often breaking down to crying or screaming for minute issues?) in a verbal and physical way (i.e crying, shivering) and more prone to nervous breakdowns than men. It has to do with their hormonal system as far I am aware and their low levels of testosterone. Males which have high levels of T are insulated against the effect of emotional impacts to a greater degree than women.

I would expect a hormonal imbalance to open up outlets of expression in a variety of ways though.

No, but in FOTR when he says 'I would have gone with you to the end, into the very fires of Mordor' and Frodo says 'I know'. Maybe a bit then. ;)

Not a film but how about in Futurama - 'Jurassic Bark' - when Seymour is shown sitting on the kerb until he dies of old age :( :(
