Crysis 2 is another console port, no DX11!!!!

Crysis was a tech frolic, Crysis 2 to me should be NOTHING but an advancement of the that.

People don't say "Crysis is amazing, such a deep game" You say Crysis people think "Pushing tech and boundaries"

The only reason I personally was even remotely interested in PERHAPS picking up Crysis 2 was for those reasons, pushing tech limits, seeing the very latest in what is available to develop on.

Not even remotely interested in another generic FPS console port.

It won't even let me ******* log on! I type in my gamespy username and password (the same one that I can use to successfully log on to the site) and it does nothing except remain on the log in screen :(

This is what's boggling me how many people are saying they are playing this... Since I have downloaded it, installed it, I can't login with my created account nor can I create a second new account. Network whining messages and rubbish about invalid nick characters even though it is just letters.

Yes I know it's the demand but come on day 2 and I still cannot get in. The main Crysis 2 forums is a hit and a miss as well.

PC only release initially, consoles much later, I do know that.

Much later might be next gen consoles or a VERY scaled down version for current gen...

For all intents and purposes you were right this is a PC only game, if they do do a console version it will be PC to console game obviously, which I don't mind at all, if only most game was this way around..

Exactly, the initial release is a PC exclusive game and engine that will not work on consoles until after it is heavily dumbed down or they have better hardware.

The PC still gets a non dumbed down, fully designed for the PC game regardless of whatever console tosh they turn it into afterwards.

I would be completely fine with every single game being like that, it might actually help to promote the PC as the gaming platform of choice.

Yet people still go into fits of rage at the suggestion PC Gaming is dying on its ass....

Its not, its in a healthy state, console ports or not.

The best game I played last year fun wise, was Just Cause 2, I dont know what direct x version that was, only that it came out on consoles at the same time as the PC, but it looked and played beautifully.

More things like that please.

Oh god here we go again.

Fixed your post for you too as i didn't know you speak for everyone on the forum!

[EDIT]I am getting 40+ on a overclocked 5850 and it feels fine for me. Also a good pointer that the engine can take a good overclock if my few games were anything to go by.

Im sorry but this is dx9, it is less efficient than the original crysis engine.

40 fps on dx9 is shocking.

People were getting that with dx10 full blast with animated palm trees and destructable buildings.

Looks like the unreal 3 engine if im honest.

I get around 40fps on Crysis 1680x1050 DX10 Very high (i5 760, GTX460 @ 800), and it looks miles better than Crysis 2.

Most of my DX9 games run a near constant 60fps.

gutted to all you people spending out thousands on your graphics hardware!
Ive downgraded to a dx9 card so this sould run just fine and look no diffrent to your £500 cards except for the -100 fps less i get lol.

I think what struck me most was how the game never really felt fluid, I played for 1.5hrs and just seemed to be a disjointed affair. Might be team work or lack of, but it was a glaring issue to me.

The process of playing it was a nightmare with the same issues that have been raised on here, and the blatent copying of the COD kill streaks was a bit shocking.

I think the main problem for me was not being able to join mid game, or waiting for a server to be full before it starts, these things arent seen in multiplayer for a reason..

Also i think some of you guys are missing the point! a lot of people have spent out lots of money on a dx11 card to run games like this with all the features of dx11, now all they get is a dated dx9 game running at 200fps. And then there is thickos like me on my ye olde 8800gtx card running the game at a respectable 40/50 fps with all the bells and whistle of the £500 card mr mug just bought.

I can see why some of you are raging tbh.

That sounds like p2p to me, does this game not support dedicated servers?

it does have dedi''s and i didnt experience that at all. other than not being able to get on a few servers and the odd log in issue when i first start the demo, it was all very smooth and slick.

Mr Mug is probably considerably richer than you so he doesnt care.

Anybody else not able to get past the log in screen? I created a new account and it just says unable to connect to multiplayer, please check connection??
