Crysis coming to Xbox 360 & PS3 Oct 2011

Considering the amount of console gamers who never had a chance to play it on PC, it's definitely not pointless.

Well, it wouldn't have been had they released this first, and then an actual sequel.
Not a reboot with so many contradictions and plot holes to release the original which will confuse them.

I don't think most people will care too much about a couple of plot holes as long as the shootings good.

It probably didn't take much work to port it across, once they had CryEngine on consoles it was just a case of when. Expect Warhead to come out around March next year.......

Except they didn't have Cryengine on consoles, they had Cryengine 2 on consoles didn't they?

I assume they've ported stuff to cryengine 2 for this release.

Can someone explain the plot holes? Although I completed Crysis 2 twice I did it back to back so cant remember much of the story in the sequel

There's so many inconsistencies it's unreal..
Take part of Crysis 2. Your suit deactivates as you've fallen out of the window with a C.E.L.L solider, C.E.L.L have the place surrounded, yet you magically start off somewhere else?.

The suit is keeping him alive, and then the suit gets switched off?

PR is out,

CRYTEK AND EA BRING CRYSIS TO XBOX LIVE AND PLAYSTATION NETWORK
Guildford, UK. – September 9, 2011 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and award-winning developer, Crytek GmbH, announced today that the critically-acclaimed Crysis® franchise will debut a new experience on Xbox LIVE® and PlayStation® Network. In October 2011, shooter fans will be able to download a modified and enhanced version of the award-winning single-player campaign from the original Crysis, remastered for console players using Crytek’s state-of-the-art CryENGINE®3 with all new lighting, effects and other visual optimizations. For just £15.99 SRP or 1600 Microsoft Points, gamers will download the most robust and exciting Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network game to date.

In 2007 and again in 2011, critics around the world hailed Crysis and Crysis 2 as titles that ushered in the next-generation of gaming with jaw-dropping visuals, industry leading technology and groundbreaking sandbox gameplay, featuring the super-powerful Nanosuit. Today, the original, award-winning 2007 single-player campaign has been remastered for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network with optimized Nanosuit controls, fine-tuned combat and full stereoscopic 3D support.

“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek. “By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”

In Crysis, gamers will travel to 2019 where a team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. Now with hope rapidly fading, the US and North Koreans must join forces to battle the alien menace, fighting epic battles through stunning, photorealistic tropical jungles and frozen landscapes.

For just £15.99 SRP or 1600 Microsoft Points , that's a bargain tbh!

As others have said, this is a good idea they'll definitely make sales out of this there are a lot of console gamers who never got the chance to play this so they'll jump at this on release. I have played it, as beautiful as the game was I found it extremely boring about half way through.

COD - 91.71
COD2 - 89.82
COD3 - 82.51
COD4 - 94.09
MW2 - 93.39
WAW - 85.73
Black OPS - 87.60

Crysis - 90.23
Crysis Warhead - 84.73
Crysis 2 - 86.08

So hardly that controversial

Crysis 1's sp campaighn owns all of those games easily, cod 1 & 2 were great in thier day but are horribly dated now, mw(1) sp wasn't too bad I'll give you that but still terriable ai, cod are fundamently rated on thier mp anyway, that wasn't the case with Crysis.

Crysis is great for the first half but blows for the latter. It was a massive release though and most console gamers probably haven't played it. Worth playing through once definitely.
