Crysis coming to Xbox 360 & PS3 Oct 2011

This could be interesting, especially if they retain the multiplayer mode. I could never really get into Crysis first time around, I did enjoy Crysis 2 though which I completed on the Xbox 360. It has to be said that £15 is a decent price for a game of this scope, with the multiple strategies available it offers a bit of replay value too and no doubt the trophies & achievements will give people something a little extra to aim for.

I think I read that the MP is not present.

That's a shame, but saying that the servers didn't seem very reliable in the Crysis 2 Multiplayer so maybe it's a blessing in disguise. I don't think I could cope with the frustration of shooting someone 5 times in the back, only for them to turn around and drop me in one. :p

How can they even begin to do it in 256MB of memory?

By completely stripping it out, if you look at the comparisons the differences are obvious , th console version looks so washed out with very little detail.....maybe they should have waited for the new consoles to come out and do a decent proper port on launch with added stuff? People would have lapped it up especially if it was a launch game

as much as I enjoyed playing and messing around with Crysis, this is pointlessness of the highest order, because they corrupted everything so badly in the second game. to enjoy Crysis from this point onwards, one just has to treat the original as a stand-alone game, not at all affiliated with the second.

since no offence to Crytek (big Crytek fan!) but they royally messed up the story for the series by making the second game completely, utterly different to the first, enemies are nothing like the ones in the original, enemy weapons are the polar opposite of the weapons in the original (hell they use Freeze Rays, guns that shoot tons of razor sharp ice spikes, singularity weapons for crying out loud! nothing like it features in the second game!), other problems are wiping out the characters of the first game, with no information about what happens to them or anything, the nano-suit is so different in the second game as well.

cannot understand the purpose, try to justify it all you want, as a technical showpiece, great its a triumph but it is a giant left hook to the Crysis Universe and is going to confuse EVERYBODY that enjoyed the second game.

Glad the Elites are p***ed off. Crysis is one of my favourite games of all time. I always knew the consoles could handle it, it was proved running on both 360 and Ps3 a few years ago with the E3 Cryengine 3 demo, they've obviously learnt some great optimisation tricks from Crysis 2 and I am very interested in playing this great game again on console as although I have played the Pc version to death I always wanted to play it on a console (no random crashes, works out of the box, runs 1st time, every time as well as it can do) and only bought the Pc version because it was a Pc exclusive.

Also anyone who says "it was a glorified tech demo" has either never played it, never played it properly or is an Elitist trying to pretend the game is now crap as it is no longer a Pc exclusive. Crysis is an amazing game from start to finish and I still want to play it again and again even after 9 playthroughs. Let's hope they include Warhead as well although am I the only person in the world who is absolutely furious this isn't on a disc?

Goddammit, what's with all these re-makes WITHOUT the multiplayer?! :(

Because Multiplayer is a big bag of balls that gets shoehorned into every release nowadays where its not needed, wanted or asked for by the games fans, splitting development resources and making the proper main (single player) game shorter, more buggy and worse as a result. Meanwhile the dedicated Mutliplayer game fans ignore it and carry on playing on Cod or Battlefield. If a game dosnt have Multiplayer I consider it a bonus, although imo a game should always be Single Player first and Multiplayer an option if included at all so that every single person who buys it gets to enjoy it the way its intended, now, and in the future. If you want Mutliplayer play one of the established franchises. Crysis is not about boring online frag/camping fests. Its about the feeling of being alone on an island (or in a city in Crysis 2) in a super suit trying to outsmart and outpower your enenies using tactics, stealth, aggression and what you can find lying around. It also had a great story which is one of the most important things for me in a game like this. Mutliplayer can go to hell.

no arguments here, it is one of the best games around, so is the second one, the vast vast vast majority of people on here just threw a tandrum and spat their dummy out when it was revealed it wouldn't use DX11. I will stand up and say out of all the games I have played over the years on consoles and the PC, xbox 360, Crysis II is one of the most enjoyable I have had the pleasure of playing to be honest, would also love someone to explain why its so hated on this forum, same with the first one to be honest, it gets dissed left right and centre by so many, who then do what? go and play Grand Theft Auto? seriously?

Wasn't even a good engine, just looked good.

Obviously you don't know much about game development then eh?

Original Crysis was never intended for console release and in doubt the game was transferred to Cry Engine 3 which would make sense as Cryengine 3 was optimised for both PC and consoles.

It doesn't bother me that its not a PC exclusive anymore but what does bother me is that Crysis 2 was re-booted so console gamer's wouldn't be lost in the story and thus we didn't get a sequel. Now they release the original Crysis on consoles?

The question that springs to mind is WTF?

What you say about games including multiplayer is somewhat "balls" its self. Multiplayer is a great way to further enjoy the game when it's done right.

Call of Duty is a prime example of this and I've heard many gamer's myself say they've never played the single player and their first intentions were to play multiplayer. No interest in single play at all. You got an audience who want either or and it's become the norm to include both and most of the time it's multiplayer that gets first play. Personally I enjoy single players and yes there short but that's because I tend to play them from start to finish in a matter of a day, is that the game developers problem? At the end of the day its quiet often you hear players moaning about the game being too short but when they've said they spent the night playing, nothing needs to be said.

Good. Now all the console fellows will understand why the PC crowd thought Crysis 2 was such a huge pile of horse excement.

I'm glad they've kept in all the destructable environments, vehicles and physics effects that were severely lacking in Crysis 2.

Enjoy console-only gamers, it's a superb game, and at that price it's a steal.
