Crysis Demo

There's always new drivers, keep that in mind, specific game-optimizing can work wonders, Bioshock showed that. Also, let's just see when it comes out?
Since buying my GTS i've been able to run pretty much every single game on high settings with full AA & AF on max resolution(only 1280x1024 unfortunately), this of course is great, but this is the first time i've ever tried this, i usually buy mid-end cards so this has been very cool. However this also means i'm used to having medium or even low settings on lots of things, and games can still look absolutely stunning on this.
So even if Crysis can't run completely smooth on max settings, just lower it a bit, won't be the end of the world?

I'm really looking forward to Crysis, especially...

when it doesnt live up to everyones expectations

I think the single player gameplay may be pretty poor. Multiplayer wil be pretty decent but its not going to be any UT3 or even UT2004. :D

I take it you think Crysis could be a let down, how come?

Only single player game play really.

From what I read on Bit-tech they said when they played it they found it very easy and the A.I. pretty poor.

e.g.

Use speed boost to run into enemy base, turn invisible, destroy everything and everyone, loose a bit of health, run away and hide and your suit regenerates yourself. Do the same again.

Doing the same thing over and over could get very boring.

I know its going to be a very good game, graphics wise, sound etc but I dont think the game play is going to be all that good. I hope it kick ass but at the moment form what ive read I dont think it will.

Hopefully the demo will win me over. :)

So, is there any new info in this thread that'll make it worth my while reading it or is it all an idle speculation/thinly veiled attempt of 'look at my specs' thread again?

:p

 The demo is confirmed to come out on the 25th by EA if that is what you mean?

So no then?

I read the first couple of posts of this thread and guessed there wouldn't be.

I'm as excited as the rest of you and will no doubt join in the spec waving fps discussion when the demo's out but every time I see one of these threads it gets my hopes up that there's some interesting new info.

Ah well, meet you back here on the 25th! :D

Yea but if you hit the memory limit the game will just bog right down as it is forced to do a lot of HDD swapping IIRC.

That would only happen if you didn't have sufficient RAM. Although, it will obviously be slower due to using system memory instead of video memory.

Personally I'm hoping to run it at 1680x1050 0xAA 4xAF tweaked medium settings (i.e. things like shadows, motion blur, decals etc on low):

3.2ghz C2D
GTS320 @ 615/915 or thereabouts
2gig PC6400C4

What do you reckon the minimum spec would be to run it at 1920*1200? I'm probably getting a 24" Dell in the not to near future and my Athlon 4400 X2 and SLI 7800GTX will be getting an upgrade around Xmas ...

For 1920x1200 you'd be looking at med-high settings (not max) on a GTX or 2900XT. Ultra might be able to run it close to max but not worth the money. Wait around for nVidias new batch of cards. They might have something coming just after the launch of Crysis that should run it maxed out fine even at that res.
