IMO they look worse than running the game maxed out. Are the backgrounds supposed to look so blurry?

people should stop complaining about how the pictures look worse than maxed out crysis

1) uploading images degrades the image quality

2) it's been long established that video of games looks better than a still picture

Here's 3 basic shots from me, standary Crysis in very high 1680x1050 because I cant get 1080p working on my HDTV. Still looks great

I have tried quite a few mods a year or 2 ago and none of them seemed to look as good as the original crysis. There were some good ones that increased FPS but they made it look worse, usually by reducing foliage or draw distance, or making things blurry

see post below. uploading doesnt really lose much quality. Just upload in bmp.

Last year I tried a couple of mods with modified cvars, then took shots in similar places and compaired to un-modded Crysis in max settings. To me the un-modded version looked better

One mod I would love is a Vietnam mod for Crysis

edit- It would be a lot more useful if people included the framerate overlay in their screenshots

I have just found this that looks very good - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7SaWEpXklI

Try this instead of bulky mods - http://forum.i3d.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=1693

I can't even play vanilla crysis now without it frustrating me because i know how good it can look. Even the Natural Mod on its own improves crysis ten fold. I think people just remember the initial 'wow' of seeing crysis, but if they actually looked back at it again and compared vanilla with Natural/Realifesis mod would see it isn't as good. I posted these in the high-res thread but I'll post them here too.
This map is a large circular shape, and I've been playing for the past two days spawning enemies into it. Today i spawned 30 US troops and 30 asian troops on opposite sides of the stream in the woods and watched them fight it out. It was really spectacular watching them advance across the stream and the trees collapsing around them etc. I'll make a video once I've got some good scenarios going and then put them into a 'map pack' to send to whoever wants to have a go. Running Very High, 1920x1080, 25fps average. Can drop to 20fps when I've spawned 60 guys fighting it out.

(but I digress, vanilla is lol compared to this)

uh sorry, they appeared when i first put them there but I've just had all my image urls blocked by photobucket until the 20th for exceeding their bandwidth :S

and in my opinion, they do indeed look better than those shots - I'll try put them on imageshack now

Yeah, I was using Irfanview, but it's a little cumbersome to have to convert it each time. Do I just have to input

e_screenshot_file_format=bmp

into the autoexec.cfg?

e_screenshot_width = 2048
e_screenshot_height = 1536
e_screenshot_quality = 100
e_screenshot_file_format = jpg

That's the 4 entries & format in mine.

Okay thanks for that mate :), I read that for excellent quality screens you input the height and width as double your res?

Also, am I right in assuming that simply by having a autoexec file, it automatically enables all commands to be inputed into the console?

Don't know about the first question, sorry. Worth a try I guess.

The settings I posted were the default values set in the gfx mod I run.

For the 2nd one you need ' con_restricted=0 ' added to the start of the autoexec.cfg to use most of the console commands in-game :

"By default, you are restricted to only a handful of console commands you can use which will work; entering any other valid commands will simply receive an error message.
This 'restricted mode' can be permanently lifted by either using the con_restricted 0 command in the console, or by adding con_restricted=0 to your System.cfg file (See further below).
More importantly, even after removing restricted mode, some commands are still 'system' commands which can't be changed via the console,
and can only be altered if inserted into System.cfg or an original system file such as diff_normal.cfg.
See the Config Files section below for an explanation of this"

I don't have a system.cfg file here, only an autoexec.cfg. Most gfx mods seem to use the latter.

Just knocked this together in about 45 minutes. Was just frapsing whilst messing around and particularly liked this little piece of footage so thought I'd make a 'teaser' of it. Once again, all credit for the map goes to CyberAlien.
I also imported the Camera noize xml file onto the map and saved it as an area trigger for the whole map. I think it really adds to it. As for the rest of the EQM extras, as others have said they detract from the game and do infact make it pretty unplayable - so the camera noise and dynamic camera are the only extras i included. I'll make some longer videos with real content soon. Watch it in HD!
