My friend who is a games tester today told me that crysis is going to need a super uber pc and it stutters on his, now considering his rig is-

Core 2 quad x6850 4ghz
4gb ram
2 x 8800 ultra
1000W psu
Asus p5k3 premium mobo
2 x Raptor x in raid 0

So unless we win the lottery anytime soon were in trouble :(

lol @ rig.. :p

Im afraid the people who make/made crysis wont do that, since they will loose money if you need such an uber rig to play the game.

Is he running on the highest settings, because iirc Crytek deliberately include silly detail settings so that the game still looks good three years down the line.

LOL i dont think so you be able to run crysis and UT3 at the same time on a rig like that

You do realise no rig 'currently' will beable to run crysis 'fully maxed out' at all...None.

They've even said this...The reason being is they are actually implementing graphic effects for future generations of GPU's etc. So the game shouldnt get as dated as quickly. If i remember correctly they said it should still be looking good in something silly like 3+ years, but dont take my word on it =/

Well apparently, thats what i read in an interview with one of the Crytek boys anyways :)

I see your friends problem if he is on Vista.

Vista+8800 series+Raptors = dont get on, Google for it using tomshardware, they found issue and made a temp fix. (was Vista 32bit but would hazzard a guess same on 64bit)

I didn't think games tester's were paid enough to afford a rig like that, that's 2k at least.

I'm sure that Crytek actually want to sell a few copies, so it will work on more moderate PCs.

I agree with you.

Just look at Farcry,

Since release they've added extras like 64bit suports, Higher draw distances, extra texture with more detail and of course SM3.0 support and most importantly HDR.

the first release of the game didnt have any of that and there was no hardware back then which could do that.

Nothing less the Geforce7 can do HDR SM3.0 on farcry with good framerates.

HDR + AA needs 8800s or x1xxx series

it probly run at lest 25-30fps at 1024*768 all on high or medium on my rig i hope

c2d e2160 1.8 running at 3Ghz
2 gig of ddr2 at 860 Mhz
965p-ds3 mobo

Crysis will no doubt be a fairly demanding game. It will require a good system to perform well. However, CryEngine2 is very scalable so lower end machines will still stand a chance.

Here is a list of confirmed information...

* Crysis will run on both DX9 & DX10 as well as Windows XP and Windows Vista.
* A graphics card that supports Shader Model 2 or higher is required.
* CryEngine2 is estimated to scale back 2 years, and scale ahead 1.5 years.
* A single 7800GTX will run the game quite well on fairly high settings according to Crysis Art Director, Michael Khaimzon.
* Jack Mamais of Crytek said in an exclusive Crysis-Online interview that his X1900XT runs the game very well at reasonably high settings ( still unoptmized ).
* Crysis will dynamically utilize all processing threads available. Meaning quad-core processors will be supported.

The following specs are estimates made by myself based on the above mentioned information and other sources. These estimates are NOT official - but are based on official information.

Minimum Requirements
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
RAM: 1GB
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 256k+
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista

Recommended Requirements
CPU: Dual-Core CPU (Athlon X2 / Pentium D / Core 2 Duo)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GT or ATI X1800XL Pro (SM 3.0)
RAM: 1.5GB+
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX9 with Windows XP / Vista

Hmm....Not sure.

I thought they were releasing two versions....

If that means two physical different versions for shops i dont know, or just a patch that does the work...Or what the hell, a button in the game confiug that says dx 9 or dx10 rendering mode?

That or it will probably just auto dectect the hardware and work accordingly.

what res is he playing at??

I suppose it also depends on the res he was running at, if he was running at an amazingly high res then yes it would stutter, if running at 1024x768 or 1280x1024 like most people will be then a rig similar to mine should run it on high settings at a reasonable framerate.
