Crysis Tech Engine 2007 clip

I doubt it in Crysis. They dealt with it really well in FarCry in that if you tried to detour from your objective too much they sent out a gunship to come and gun you down.

I remember trying to get to other demo locations by evading the chopper and running across the island.

I find it funny more than anything. There you are, a warrior with the capabilities and armoury to take down a God, in Guild Wars that is, yet a little 6" rock blocks your path and forces you to take a certain path.

It's like in FPS games where a wooden door blocks your path, even though you have a hulking great rocket launcher in your armoury which is capable of destroying whatever armoured vehicle the enemy throw at you. Just not a wooden door though. :p

Obviously you already play MOH anyway!?!?!

I can't wait for this game to come out, and see what it brings to the people that love FPS etc etc!!!

Yes i play moh i was saying it would be cool for a future moh game to use the cryengine so it would look as nice as crysis but be a moh game.

No matter how great Crysis turns out to be, I bet there's still the age old FPS bug bear of mine present.

Thats not what I saw in all the demo video's?? Or are you diggin at summit else? :)

I think its safe to say that the actual crysis game with include these features as the video was a demo of the game crysis, not the cryEngineII

no it's not, it's a demo of the cryengine2. it says "Crytek presents CryEngine2" at the very start and has CryEngine2 in the bottom right corner and the character says "CryEngine2 is our next gen. game development platform that allows you to develop killer quality games" and sayss at the end CryEngine2 available now enquiries to [email protected]

it doesn't mention crysis at all.

But all of the content and features shown are from crysis. I know Epic take the stance of "we dont create content we dont plan to use", and i wouldnt be surprised for crytek to take a similar stance. If they engine can do it, expect to see it showcased through Crysis.

crytek have said that the shadow calculations are more strenuous than HDR itself. drop shadow quality and expect to see the game run on a 6600gt with all other settings at max

FPS are my fave sort of game. This is living proof that a PC wipes the floor with any console, even the ps3 which still isnt even out yet!!

PS3 + HD TV =1000+quid yet my pc (sig) is around that and its so much better :p

ok so maybe i need a new gfx but still :p

If your PC monitor supports HDCP then you don't need to spend anything on an HDTV ;)

But I will agree, DX10 PC games are going to show the console crowd what they're missing

any idea which games r gona be run on this engine?

EA are thinking of picking up the engine, so you might see a sequel to renegade or a Medal of honour later on but as of right of this moment only Crysis is using it.

I'm actually surprised that the uptake of this engine hasn't been greater. I mean, with UE3, Epic have basically pwnt every single developer who's using their engine onto their hompage. Yet Crytek haven't.

And as for the effects, the video is simply a demonstration of the engines capabilites. Some of the video is from Crysis, but most of it is from the engine.

With Crysis, the core gameplay isn't all the pwnass graphics, it's the effects such as volumetric lighting, advanced AI, owning physics and the advanced sound effects. This isn't like FarCry, you have to use your radar to find enemies in the vast and dense jungle scenery. The AI is [erhaps the best advancement. It's not BF2 SP "I can see you behind that wall" AI, it's "where is he, he's around here somewhere", and "oh ****, he's spotted me, get to safety" AI. I'm a proclaimed graphics whore, but i hate getting killed in a completely unrealistic way. With Crysis, i dare say that if they do shoot me, i will actually be like "oh man, i was owned by good AI".

Looks amazing and fully next gen, but I doubt it will be that nice on most peoples computers. A more honest representation of actual gameplay would probably be similiar to what you see in the part of the video that demonstrates the game design app.
