Crysis Tech Engine 2007 clip

I doubt they would create this amazing new engine, then create one of the most awaited games ever, only so people with top rigs can play it with eyecandy/good fps.

No idea why but i have the feeling this is going to be one of the best coded games ever in the FPS market. Mainly because farcry was so well coded.

As i said earlier on in this thread....

Im optimistic my rig could play this at 1280x1024, with eye candy on max @ 25-30fps.

I don't really see why not. My rig plays farcry at 90-100fps, and fear 70-80 with everything maxed out. So saying that crysis is going to be about 3x more demanding than farcry sounds about right imo.

This is going to be a modders dream.
Source is gonna lose a vast amount of their modding community to Crysis. The Sandbox editor makes level design a breeze!

Lets just hope there is plenty of pre defined models and the like so different styles of games can be done easily too.

Well the only reason it has DX10 is because DX10 focuses on the cinematic effects such as volumetric HDR (yum), advanced particles (such as water, no need ot use sprites anymore!), etc. For financial reasons though, they obviously included a DX9 mode. If it was DX10 only, that'd driver the industry forward, but would probably set Crytek back in the ratings.

I still can't wait for this game. :D :D :D

The major advantage of DX10 is actually the new driver integration for the graphics which is much better than previous DX versions AFAIK. You will probably find that those effects can all be done in DX9, just not to a reasonable level of performance. But you are right that they must include a DX9 renderer otherwise they would alienate over 90%, i estimate, of their custom.

EA are thinking of picking up the engine

Wonder if they'll use it for EA sports titles aswell.... picture it now, middle of a football match when a nuke goes off just outside the stadium. Next thing you know, all your players are flying ragdoll style into the goal.

ROFL

the specs of the system they using sounds interesting, if its a single GTX then my Rig with a OC GTS 650/2000 should run it 60+ fps easy

Man dont know how to say this but i CANT WAIT!

i cant wait for this game / engine. BRING ON THE R600!!!

the r600 is out of production i think, or if its still in, its gonna be pants.

ags

EDIT!: sorry, its not out of production, but its been pushed back to Q4 and its still gonna be crap, nvidia are gonna release there new series of gfx by the time the r600 hits the shelfs and it will be put to shame lol

Looks great. Hope it's not going to be like the first Cryengine and only be used for one game Farcry as the multi player was very poor. Now if it could be used for some thing like Battlefield 3 that would be a game and a half.Come to think about it they could even make a battlefield type game with old Cryengine it would be great:D

bit harsh with the multiplayer comment imo. Far Cry is one of our (group of mates) favorites at LAN's. The team based assault mode is good fun and pretty damn tense. Deathmatch can be a bit weird though as the levels are too big really for small groups of people.

Aye, loved being an engineer.

The nuke at the end of the video is very impressive, i hear EA are thinking (not doing) about making the sequel to C&C Renegade with this engine I couldn’t think of a better engine to go it with. :D

Lets hope thats true, C&C Renegade was one of my favorite FPS's of all time just for the simple fact i love the C&C Universe, Either C&C Tiberium wars, or Red alert would be a great setting for the next game in the series.

The Crysis engine is by far the best imo also, thats for sure. I really do agree with you there.

Still doubt a 8800 best card or best conroe can even hope to have 60fps on this game with max detail.

I really like the object motion blur. Gives it a very holywood feel to the gfx. Very noticable in the nuke at the end and that was a great nuke effect too.

itll still look amazing. Medium settings will show up the current games most of us are still playing to be honest

If they do the multiplayer well for this it could really be huge, just the way the vegetation works would make for some fantastic battles. By exploting the cover you could have stealthy battles, or the general destructibility of the vegetation/buildings will make things even more immersive when you're spamming away :D
