Crysis Tech Engine 2007 clip

yes, any game with dx10 features will require vista to make use of these features, since dx10 is vista only. You'll find the dx10 features most likely will offer little visual difference over dx9 counterparts, although performance hit with said items being turned on should be less from what MS have said about vista. Although currently the performance hit by using vista over XP is the opposite of this, but drivers&OS will have matured by time game is out, hopefully anyway.

its only out in a thew weeks according to pla popular website with free delivery.

This will probably be the only game i play if its as good as it looks at ign. Il need vista eventually so i might aswel go for it it eh

although i can see my card struggling with the graphs at max, this seriously looks too good to be playable on any card!

This is going to be a modders dream.
Source is gonna lose a vast amount of their modding community to Crysis.

I like how people fail to see that Crysis' editor is a continuation of Farcry's editior, which also could do exactly the same things. Including 'what you see is what you play'.

(has used both Crytek and Valve's Hammer editors)

Hell yes, they do need a demo! Apparently the alpha is this month sometime. And it's due for release in Q2 this year. Not half a year away (ok, maybe it will be), and not "way way back". Crysis-online has the most accurate information about it.

EDIT: The other day i checked and it was pre-alpha. I just checked now and it's in Alpha! :D *Cheering*

No matter how great Crysis turns out to be, I bet there's still the age old FPS bug bear of mine present.

Namely, being a rock-hard alien slaying mercenary wearing the latest in nano-tech suits who gets blocked by a 6" fence that you can't jump.
QUESTION

What’s the height of a stair so a player can walk up the stairs without juddering/jumping?

ANSWER

Real world size (about 16 cm high and 32 cm deep)

16cm is approx 6 1/4 inches high ;)

Not to the same degree.
The use of voxels is a huge step forward, and the real time adjustment of lighting and texturing is revolutionary compared to SB1 where having to continually recalculate lightmaps and generate terrain textures took forever...

I certainly hope it will come out soon, but everywhere I read, has said end of the year/next year release.
