Crysis!

I wonder if Crysis may be one of the first games needing more than 2GB of RAM on full settings?

i doubt that will happen untill early 2008 but coincidentally thats when crysis arrives so you could be right :)

at present even the most hungry games such as the battlefield series are barely scratching a gig of ram. if you didnt have windows loaded in the background acting like a sponge youd get away with 1024mb  :D

if its hitting alpha about now then I'd imagine we're looking at a june-august release. Its possible that they may push it back for the holiday season though.

From my limited experience alpha->beta = ~3 months, beta->gold ~3 months and then gold to in stores ~1 month

they already said themselves it wont be here until early 2008.

What did i tell you! I knew it wasn't 2008. I've been over at another forum and i've been following the game since it was first announced! i can't wait until we get a demo. Apparently it's gonna be about a week before release (again, i can't confirm this but it's just a rumour).

yeeeee haww i noticed this too, i had a inclin it was BS, all i can say is it looks like were set for spring. Bring it on!

OK, then name me a comparable FPS with the breadth of choice over how to tackle a level... Or in which physics actually matters (besides HL2)... Or the stealth that can be achieved by way of the jungle and such like... Or the variety of vehicles...

No game of recent times has done so much that was new, and done it so well.

There is no breadth of choice to finish a level, you still only take one route and that pretty much boils down to going to the left of a hill or the right... I can't honestly remember the physics actually mattering to the gameplay in that interaction was needed to complete a level? Correct if I'm wrong on that I can't remember. Now this bit is why I had to reply, the whole idea of being able to sneak through the lush jungle was something I was almost grinning at as I started to creep around, only to then be rudely awakened as the enemy AI didn't believe too much in you being able to stay in cover. Of course you're then stuffed as you have no idea where they are attacking you from (as you can't see through the jungle...) so you fall back and it just degenerates into a standard fps. Vehicles were good but overall it failed to live up to its promise for me. Also the "open the door, SMACK! Oh I'm dead there's a monster behind that one, restart, open door step back, kill as needed at choke point, continue" gameplay of the later stages didn't impress me too much.

..but in spite of all that I'm looking forward to Crysis, when it's here it's here :)

What will these forums be like if this game turns out to be utter rubbish!

Now that will be an entertaining read!!!!

pip-pip!

It clearly won't be rubbish oh and those of you with 8800's should be set for DX10 mode - The visuals are incredible, and Crysis is certainly going to sell a lot of hardware as gamers upgrade their systems to play the game at maximum detail level. Surprisingly, the systems at the show weren't too unreasonable. We were told the game was running on a single-core high-end CPU with the latest Nvidia graphics card, and the frame rate was smooth for the most part. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli told us that the game still has plenty of optimization work to go through

You can't say it for definite though. Look at Doom 3, so many people said it would be totally amazing, it looked great, but it dissapointed so many. Same with Half-Life 2, not as many people were dissapointed, but overhyping a game can lead to huge amounts of moaning.

At the moment, I still see it as a generic shooter where you can hide a little more and jump higher. I'll wait until I play it until I give a proper opinion.

didn't i just....the game will be able to utilise Physx or if a Physx isn't present, it'll use another CPU Core if one's present (if it isn't then be ready for the lag). Also, Crytek mentioned a few weeks ago that even the 8800's won't be able to handle it in DX10 mode.

Where did you read that ****? There is no way that the 8800's won't handle it in "DX10 mode". DX10 is largely to do with unified shaders. Most of the early movies (which looked awesome) were run on DX9 cards and the 8800's are much faster than any of those. 8800s will run the game fine, even in DX10.

He said in DX10 mode, the DX9 cards were running it in DX9, we dont really know what DX10 performance will be like at the mo.

Quoted...a game is only as good as its gameplay.
