CS:GO Discussion

I'll try and post some useful stuff for you guys.

Excellent CS:GO Reddit:

Launch settings. Customize to your own preferences.

-high -threads8 -novid

-high = sets CS:GO as a high priority process (may help improve FPS/performance)

-threads = again, performance related. Set to the amout of threads your CPU has.

-novid = skips intro video and brings you straight onto the main menu.

here's mine:
-novid -freq 120 -high -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd -threads 8

don't use -freq 120 unless you have a 120hz monitor.

Been playing with my new Mionix Naos and i'm touching people! I played fine with my DeathAdder but with this new mouse i'm on bloody fire. tried it on COD4 too and I just snap onto people in a split-second! :p

that's the mouse I've been using for a while too :) I really like it, although it took a while to get used to the width. Very reliable tracking, as you say :)

Are you the guy who asked me if it was any good in trust?

I used to have -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd on css

I read that -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd are removed in csgo tho ? instead just use m_rawinput "1"

Yeah none of these exist anymore - -noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd but some old schoolers just keep them in their launch options. In keyboard/mouse options just turn mouse acceleration off and raw input on and it will be the same.

Also for video settings you want to use:

Global Shadow Quality - low
Model / texture detail - low
Effect detail - low
Shader detail - low
Multicore rendering - Enabled
Multisampling anti-aliasing mode - put on highest you can handle with FPS
Texture Filtering mode - Again highest like above
FXAA Anti-Aliasing - Enabled
Wait for veritcal sync - disabled
Motion Blur - Disabled

That will stop you getting the blur when you scope in on the awp.

WHY?!

I put everything on highest cause my PC can handle it. I don't get playing on small resolutions with low graphic settings. I feel I play just fine. I think pro players use lower resolutions and low settings more because of nostalgia.

These are my launch options:

-novid -threads 8 -high -tickrate 128

This is my autoexec

//Binds net graph to show when you press tab (scoreboard)
bind "TAB" "+ng"
alias "+ng" "+showscores; net_graph 1"
alias "-ng" "-showscores; net_graph 0"

//removes the VERY HIGH menu sound, but also the start round/end round sound. Great if you are on TS with friends.
snd_musicvolume "0"

//crosshair settings
cl_crosshairalpha "200"
cl_crosshaircolor "5"
cl_crosshaircolor_b "255"
cl_crosshaircolor_r "255"
cl_crosshaircolor_g "255"
cl_crosshairdot "0"
cl_crosshairgap "-1"
cl_crosshairsize "2"
cl_crosshairstyle "4"
cl_crosshairusealpha "1"
cl_crosshairthickness "1"
cl_fixedcrosshairgap "0"
cl_crosshair_outline "1"
cl_crosshair_outline_draw "1"

//show the damage in the top left corner when you die (you can just look at console)
developer 1
con_filter_enable 2
con_filter_text_out "Player:"
con_filter_text "damage"

//over rides your in game settings
host_writeconfig

I also changed something on my config.cfg, mainly network rates though

i think the reason why most pro players use lower resolutions as well as lower graphics settings is to see better so to speak.

If i remember back when playing 1.x - Source, if you set all settings to low, you can see through smoke grenades and shadows appear much more vividly. Not sure about GO though

Use my settings then zoom in with the AWP, notice how much more you can see when zoomed in with no blur (not talking about when moving) and also check shadows on players.

Then use your settings and zoom in and check shadows.

It isn't being stupid, just does actually make a difference. Plus if you set AA etc to 16 and on max everything looks as good as it can be anyway.

Resolution play on whatever you want, but the low stops you get awp blur around the scope.

Okay after reading up a bit more on latest updates, it is just "shader detail" which needs to be set to low. The rest can stay on high.

So as above, get an AWP zoom in then move the scope and walk scoped in with the setting on high, then do the same with the setting on low. It removes the fog/blur.

What's the best gun for a newbie, I liked the desert eagle and shot gun. But the desert eagle can be a bit slow and shot gun ain't gonna help my aiming

M4A4 and AK47 are the only guns you should be using when you first start. Once you learn those most other things come naturally.

If you've come from CoD the aug/sg553 might feel the most "natural" for you to use, but Murray is right, you'll probably want to get used to the AK47/M4A4.

Oh man played a wee match yesterday with my cousin, prettying the first time touching the game since the beta. Still feels good getting accused of being a hacker :D I take it this game is also plagued by Russians like dota 2?
