CS:GO Discussion

Can someone explain how this is different from any of the other CS games.

I've played them all (admittedly not extensively) and this is just them same with improved graphics. Even the maps are the same...?

Erm, hard to explain without going into a long boring written reply which you would fall asleep reading.

Short story - There's always been tension between players playing 1.6 and those playing CS:S, this game is basically to try unite both communities and bring a new level of play to the competitive scene, but while also giving the fun element. 1.6 has always been more popular in a competitive scene and has always had far more backing and higher cash prizes plus a lot more tournaments than source. Source wasn't meant to be a new game, just a refresh of 1.6, but they kind of ****** that up and basically all the noobs took the easy mode and chose to play source (haha not biased I promise ;) )

Anyway CS:GO again isn't a brand new game, just another refresh really but the aim is to bring both games together and basically move it into a esport element so it can compete on par with games like LOL, SC2 etc

So far it seems to be going in the right direction with a lot of top teams from both sides already switching to CS:GO, plus the fact the LAN event Dreamhack has already taken it in as a tournament with a 30k prize fund will also make things interesting. Either way if it fails, then it could pretty much be the end for the Counterstrike series.

Feel sorry for those who have pre-ordered, gun play is just terrible compared to the other cs games. Doesn't matter if you burst, spray or w/e some guy always has the advantage over you

Thanks for the reply.

Just for clarity I've had access to the CS:GO beta for a few weeks now and have enjoyed it.

What I don't get is people saying it's just 'run and gun' or doesn't compare to previous versions. It seems identical to me bar graphics.

Definitely not run and gun. I can barely hit anything standing up instead of crouching let alone moving and shooting! :p

I gather this guy's opinion is a bit different then :P

Probably, I've literally just came from playing it, on Aztec, some guy just randomly comes round a corner, shoots me in the head within 3 shots from a pistol even though I'm crouched with my cursor on him with an ak47, so obviously I have the advantage but according to this game I don't. I've used pretty much every gun in the game and the new hitboxs or bullet reg is dog pap, I don't even think you can get used to it when you can't hit anything in the first place.

Witnessed to much bull* to pre-order. If you enjoy it then good for you but I'm out on this one

Maps are almost identical but these will change get tweaked until everyones happy with them.

Guns are not the same at all, recoil patterns are completely different. Go stand close to a wall and just hold you finger on the trigger and watch the pattern. These are new and will need to be learned if you want to be able to control guns properly, but they had to do this as it would have been unfair to take patterns from either of the games.

Sound again is still being tweaked but sure it will eventually be where it needs to be.

In a whole the same elements are there from each game, but it's learning the new ones and well like marmite, you will either love or hate it.

Sounds like you're raging because the guy had a better aim than you :p

Don't blame the hitboxes and reg just because you aren't used to the game to understand how to control the weapons properly.

I don't see how you can learn a weapon, If a guy runs round a corner and shoots and hits me in 3, how come if I was to do the same thing it wouldn't hit my target? It's not as if you have vibration or insane recoil when you press shoot on a mouse is it.

I could go on CSS now and get at least 1 kill before I die, where as in CS:GO you can go 1:7 so easy

So, are recoil patterns fixed, similarly to 1.6 or random like in CSS?

Haha. Sorry but sounds like you just don't know how to play. It's not like most games, it takes some people a year just to understand the mechanics.

You didn't hit someone - must be because the hit boxes are screwed
Someone can hit you - must be because the game is badly written

Been the same story with CS games since the dawn of time. It's always the games fault.

Just be like me, admit your pants, and get on with having fun :p

My server is running now yey!
I use to play this game so much back in the day right from Beta 1 up until the release of steam and gave up playing a little after that.
Ideally I want to play proper games, I tried to get into CS a few times and got bored of all the 1000 players, dust2, stupid mods etc.. I like proper 5v5 or 6v6 games and a nice map rotation. That is what I shall aim for with my server at least.
Trouble is I am a little out of the loop and haven't had a game server for some time so may take some sorting to get it playing properly. I have enabled all the go maps as well as the standard versions of them it appears other than that no idea :D

not much of a improvement visually over CSs i was expecting a CS 2 by now with a big visual boost dx11 tessellation something on par with max payne 3 but FPS this is just a reskin and new maps .
