CS:GO Discussion

Hmm interesting, going to get this as ive played every CS since year dot. Smaller hitboxes sounds a lot better tbh, a lot of CSS was spray and pray. Also like the idea of getting in on the groumd floor before the flood of mods and maps.

The hitboxes seemed pretty weird when I played a few weeks back. Even in situations when I felt I couldn't possibly have missed (i.e. crouching, moderate range, firing at stationary target, enemy's head right in the centre of crosshairs, firing about 1 round per second) I still had shots not registering. I experienced some things that I don't think could be explained by smaller hitboxes.

this! i was really having a hard time killing yesterday.. lol

Watching some more videos of this and although the graphics aren't hyper realistic epic game engine stuff it looks pretty nice, there's a style to it.

I'm really looking forward to playing this on beta tomorrow and maybe getting back into CS which I used to play every night in college/uni days.

Still, I would loved for them to have made a new CS game with very similar setup, maps and general ideas but maybe brought it into the 21st century with more weapons, weapon mods, aiming down the sight.

I do think it would be a good idea.

I've pre ordered this, i'm hoping it's significantly better than Source.

I'm not expecting much to be honest, but for £10 it's a risk worth taking.

I would have thought it'd be ready for pre load though?

I hope the competitive community picks this up as we really need a good game to come out. I love the back to the roots style game without any of the perks and crap that cod and battlefield have.

This for sure, as a novice loaded up css which ive not done for years and went on a random swrver and it was shocking. Server mods all ffa and ruin the game. So will be good to get back to normality and no gimmics

Good point. Can someone with the current access to the beta confirm something for me please...

I know when it was first launched the only way of playing was with a matchmaking system, am I right? Most games were played on valve servers. Do you still have the option to play like this? I hope so. Well, I like the option of playing a "pure" match and also be able to search for custom servers in the browser.

Just to explain where I'm coming from, I've got completely tired of CSS because I struggle to find servers running the game how it's meant to be played i.e. 5 on 5. All the popular servers are at least 32 or 64 slots - it's a complete spamfest. I ended up alt-tabbing out the game for a couple of minutes until the numbers got whittled down! It's just boring and mindless tbh :(

Please tell me CS:GO still has a "pure" server option, that matches you with other players based on ability.

Ummm the Beta has started for me as i can download the Mac client now whereas i couldn't before the 14th.

Been playing it on a Windows Partition for the last month so will be interesting to see the performance differences. Hoping there isn't any as it's a pain to load into another OS purely for a quick few rounds...even if I'm on SSDs...

Yeah matchmaking is still there. You can choose Classic 5v5 where you don't have to buy armour etc or competitive with FF on and more buy options.

Obviously servers are there too.

I've mostly just been going through the matchmaking buttons as the servers currently available don't seem to be running the classic 5v5 games.

Bit of a pain as you can get connected to high ping servers.
