CS:GO Discussion

Just remembered I have Dolby Digital Plus on, with Surround Virtualizer, Dialogue Enhancer and Volume Leveler all set to on, could be that?
I get good positional sound ingame with those settings through the laptop speakers though. Should have selected Headphones setting with those?
Hopefully get that new Headset Monday, so will probably leave the sound for now and set it up fresh then.
 
I'll give you a little of my background before I answer that. I used to work in Parkgate Music Studio in Battle as a sound engineer working with bands like The Cure and Snow Play so "some experience".

Turn that **** off ;)

Minimum turn Virtualizer off it's ruining your sound. Stereo > surround Sound

*Edit. Right switched it off completely and the sound was crap, sounding very dull and muffled, not at all natural.
Switched it back on with all extra settings off, just the simple "Game" setting and it sounds ok, better than before even, clearer and more precise, just listening to the opening music in CSGO that is.

Well you might consider it dull atm but the sound you had was very out of phase, no mid range (muddyness / warmth) and was all just treble and bass so yes it will sound more muddy but a lot more accurate. It was very un natural before :S

edit 1.What headset do you have?

edit 2. set your sound to normal aka all off and watch this video then watch your vid to understand what is wrong with your sound. The vid is just the first I got when searching for CS GO but shows the sound off well enough

Sorry. Bad habit of mine and have probably ruined my ears now from always whacking the Bass and Treble up keeping mids mid.

I ordered the Alienware Tactx Headset from OcUK today.
I watched the reviews after pulling the trigger so just hope it does not have the mic hiss as @ 3:00 in this review.

*Edit. So right what does Dolby Plus do? It sounds infinitely better with it on, even with the equalizer flat at mid and all additional settings off. All I remember about the original Dolby is that it removes hiss and you could hear it on in recordings listening to words sang with the "S" sound.

The headset should be fine without any "enhancements". As it's a closed cup design it'll be bassier by design.

Dolby plus should be used to enhance bad speaker setups such as laptop / tablet speakers not a gaming headset ;)
 
I wish I could have spent that much Joel though the Mrs would have cut my CoK off, already had a new mouse this month.

if you can, open back. the positional sound is immense, people who say audio isn't important in csgo (i have come across a couple) don't play the team game.

I use the philips fidelio X1. Finally have my Akg Q701 coming from the usa though so im am super hyped about that,

Use pistol on deathmatch will force aim to improve. You have to hit fast, there is no spray where as a rifle can cover many mistakes just from random hits gaining a kill.
Tec-9 just got upgraded, I might have to try that again

I wouldn't suggest the pistol idea. Just use M4/AK but do not spray at people on deathmatch and take your time aiming for headshots. Pay no attention to your score
 
I think the pistol idea is good, I also use deathmatch to I'm improve my spray. 10mins a day just spraying with m4/ak at people will help a lot to control spray at distance if you miss headshot.
 
Is there a way to set match making to find uk only people , had 3 games over the past 2 days all Russians all sit in spawn with scout and have no interest in playing as a team

Lower your in game matchmaking ping is the only thing you can do to try limit that, or get a pre-made 5 together with people you know.
