CSS - I'm 'learning' AWP...

I used to play cs at a very high level, i'd also awp a lot in matches (was very handy with the usp too) but others in my clan werent so much, one guy was good too though. Now by 'not so good' i mean they could decimate a public or a lower quality team but against decent competition they'd be lucky to get a few kills. They were very good with the other rifles though.

All the guns require different kinds of skill, and the AWP is one of the big ones to master just like the m4 or ak. Compared to joe public awp'ing i was untouchable :\ At low level the awp is simple point and click but with other weapons when you click the shots spread around a bit and its suddenly a "difficult" weapon to use. At higher levels every gun is near enough a 1 shot kill, they just excel in different scenario's.

You, my uneducated friend, are one of the clueless morons that I mentioned in previous post. Sure, cracking a few heads with an AWP in public takes no skill. Just like public takes no skill, which I imagine is the extent of your CS experience.
For you, words have no meaning so a picture will surfice

Absolutely correct, i haven't played a tournament since i was in school (cs 1.4-1.6) not that it matters.
It is far easier to be socially retarded and hurl insults over the safetynet that is the internet.
You sir, are a trademark CS player and that is no compliment

Anyone can use an AWP, but it takes a great deal of skill and experience to master.
I didn't claim the opposite in any of my posts, feel free to quote me if you think otherwise

The difference between a skilled and novice user is huge, far more so than the gap between a skilled/novice colt/ak user.
To clarify are you claiming that you need a larger skillset to be the sniper in a team than the other roles?
Note: not be better at a handful, but need more skills overall

Chronictank, a 'holier than thou' attitude is just as bad. Internet snobbery is just as funny to watch.

I am the lead awper in my clan, and i think i am going to avoid responding to all the people bashing it here.

OT: The Q button as previously mentioned and also getting good with the deag as also previously mentioned are both key. Also try to avoid double scoping as much as possible, I only really use that when watching dark spots closely or something.

I am somewhat of a offensive awper as well, always called upon to get the entry kill into a site before the rush. Its all about knowing the exact time to click after stopping and moving again straight afterwards, takes time to get those timings down.

And the no-scope is a thing of glory which i am getting quite profficient at.

To clarify i am not bashing it at all,
i was simply stating my opinion that i don't think the role requires the most skill in a reasonable level of game

Yeah fair point, i guess its just like anything really, its what i choose to do in the game, so i will be upset if someone says it doesn't take as much skill to use as something else.

Anyway, i am a good rifler as well, so generally when people start whining if i am on a public server, i switch to m4 / AK, and kill them just as much. Thankfully in matches you don't get that often though.

Wow, can i make myself sound any more big headed? Please just read that at face value, I am not THAT good :P

as poster above u have to learn how to walk and stop and shoot the awp.

the best way i found is stop for a fraction of a second , as walking shooting makes u less accurate. it is hard to explain but u should get the tehnique when u use the gun more.

half-scopes/ flickshots my explanation is when u dont have enough time and u are more experiance with your sensitivity and accuracy.

u scope and unscop and shoot and drag the mouse at your target. <- you doing this in a fracture of a second. it is really hard to explain maybe someone else can explain it better.

as well if you do this alots and u have some skill u get reactions and etc etc... u can go on like this all day.

here is some example of a raction flick shot : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYO03xlhyZE&feature=related

edit : they call us awp hoes ,campers ,noobs and etc , but without us they are nothing ;)

Even I could kill with that so it definitely doesn't require any skill :p

Yeh but it needs more than your average player to use it properly... sitting in a corner waiting for someone doesnt take skill at all. Actually moving round the map and being able to quickly get someone close and long range is what takes the skill

Just playing around on a few Deathmatch servers - the ones where you choose your weapons - and i managed a decent score of 70 kills to 45 deaths or so...which is pretty good for me! :o

Either way, just wondering if it's anyone else's choice of weapon? Any tips? My default is M4/AK but it depends on the map...

I'm always curious about AWP'ers anyways and generally screenwatch people. :)

If you get quick and accurate with a AWP you'll be unstoppable ;)

On my deathmatch server I usually play with AK-47 or M4
70% of learning the AWP is coping with the amount of people whining and moaning at you for daring to buy one.
People don't really care what you buy or use on deathmatch servers.

you know when someone is a skilled player, when they use an awp+deagle combo in preference to m4/ak, on any map, in any situation. I got to the stage were i couldnt use anything but said combo, and if you want me prove my words, i have a video that i can upload of my bygone decent cs playing days (days when we won tournaments, ilans and other events) albeit before the days when source ruined CS forever.

Well I haven't played for over a year but back when I played there wasn't much moving around at all the average public game (which is majority of us here). It simply turn into a bloodbath with AWPs around every chokepoints.

dude none of u guys know what your on about tbh, i play in CAL Main, so look at my post.

lol, congrats - Honestly. CAL means nothing in Europe.

As for the guy who felt the need to throw a box of tissues my way, I can't be bothered to scroll the thread again to find your name, but you just proved me right - You're clueless.

Best advice i could give for awping is use a very low sensitivy on ya mouse, i use 1.6 @ 800 dpi i find this very accurate, also helps if you have on the fly sensitivity on your mouse :)

Also be patient wait for the enemy come to you moving around lot will get you killed a lot more.

Basics:

When shooting, you have to stay still, sounds obvious but so many people treat the awp like a scout and therefore miss.

Then learn to quick switch with q, allowing you to take more shots faster and be more mobile.

Pay attention to where the opposition is and concentrate on a spot they will cross, this may be through sound/radar/or just a choke point of the map.

Wait for people to peek out.

Shoot through doors and boxes as the opposition cross them, this improves aim and reactions with the weapon.

No scoping is nice n all, but if you're a good awper you won't rely on it, as you will have shot them before they get to close or quick scoped them.
