Thanks again. Though I'm not sure my 'expertise' can stretch to setting up a whole dedicated server so I might have to just rent one from a host. I'm ready to learn though if it's worth it.It's colocation - so rather than rent a dedi server you buy your own dedi and then pay a datacentre to host it for you. To be honest, I've no idea of decent datacentres in the US but you could ask on isphostingtalk (apologies if that name is slightly wrong - I've forgotten the website url). By the sounds of it you're paying out a huge amount of cash so you'd definitely be better off with colocation. Even renting a dedi would be cheaper, but colo is definitely the best choice.
One thing to keep in mind if you go the dedi/colo route though: You will need a reasonable level of technical expertise and time to install and configure everything. I'm sure Link can testify to this
At the moment our outgoings are massive. $1000 for the forum skin, $200 for forum license (one offs) and then about $500 a month just on servers. Who'd think we were in the economy we are?
