CSS servers now up

A new server is running. This is not branded OcUK but shares the same admins. It rotates between the following maps:

de_dust2
cs_italy
de_aztec
de_cbble
cs_office
de_dust
de_prodigy
cs_compound
de_train
de_tides
cs_assault
de_nuke
de_inferno

Details: Link to Insanity's CSS Standard Server

Do you run these servers from home Link? Just curious...

No, they run off Aekeron's dedicated server.

I've run a COD1 server from home on a laptop before, through my dad's PC's shared IC. (somehow it was still pretty popular, despite the slight lagg)...

OcUK 2 is also back up now. Due to the fact I now have a new server (mentioned above) this one nolonger cycles and has become a Dust2 server starting at $16000.

What sort of FPS are they running?

600 fps as far as I know. 75 tickrate anyway. Rates are all force-set server side as well for the 75 tick. Reg seems pretty good so far. I'll update the server list in the first post to go with the new server aswell at some point.

It will look something like this:

Server: [OcUK] - 1 - Office Server /$16000/75-tick/FF-ON (40 Slots)
IP: 217.168.150.203:27031

Server: [OcUK] - 2 - Dust2 Server /$16000/75-tick/FF-ON (40 Slots)
IP: 217.168.150.203:27034

Server: [OcUK] - 3 - Standard CSS /$800/66-tick/FF-ON (32 slots)
IP: 94.76.196.213:27015

Server: [OcUK] - 4 - Gungame Deathmatch CSS /66-tick/GG-Maps (24 Slots)
IP: 217.168.150.203:27047

OcUK 4 however is currently the old gungame server and OcUK 3 is unbranded.

EDIT: Both OcUK 1+2 constantly refill your money each round to 16k. Am currently working on weapon restrictions to limit awps and autosnipers.

Wow. I only just noticed how cheap dedicated servers are.

I'm paying about £110 a month for 1x58 slot server and 1x10 slot Vent server though a dedicated server (Quad core) from the same hosts would be £160. :(

OcUK 1+2 are now both restricted in terms of up to 2 awps only per team and no auto-snipers are allowed.

Enjoy. :D

Also, a game this week on ocuk1 has been announced, starting at 8:30. Be there for the grand re-opening :D

yep, argued with some idiot for months, only ever seemed to say the one thing no matter what i said "we cannot reverse a ban, your a naughty boy" even after telling him for the hundredth time (probably literaly) he still said exactly what he had been "trained" (brainwashed) to say

Someone cheated on your account and got caught. It's quite simple. They aren't just going to take your word for it are they?

but thatr cant be possible :( i had a stupid password which no 1 would guess in a million years, all sorts of antispyware etc and i was on it the whole time myself! I asked them to tell me the ip that had been used but that was too much hassle or something

The cheapest option is colocation. The current dedi we're running was built on a very low budget (£300) and costs less than £60 per month. With some creative purchasing and building you can build a 1u quad core system for about £400 now and still only be paying the same price per month.

If you want any tips/etc about that, feel free to trust message me.

Thanks mate. Where do you actually rent the dedicated server from?

We now have a 58 slot, a 40 slot, two 20 slots and a 32 slot. I'm guessing it would be much easier to host these on a dedi server.

And thanks for the email Link but the server would have to be in the US unfortunately. :(

It's colocation - so rather than rent a dedi server you buy your own dedi and then pay a datacentre to host it for you. To be honest, I've no idea of decent datacentres in the US but you could ask on isphostingtalk (apologies if that name is slightly wrong - I've forgotten the website url). By the sounds of it you're paying out a huge amount of cash so you'd definitely be better off with colocation. Even renting a dedi would be cheaper, but colo is definitely the best choice.

One thing to keep in mind if you go the dedi/colo route though: You will need a reasonable level of technical expertise and time to install and configure everything. I'm sure Link can testify to this :p
