Curved is here....

What is the point in a curvy screen, i cant see a point to it, am i missing something.
Flexi screens on the other hand i can see a point to them.
Surly screen will look distorted due to curve and your depth perception, surly it'll make touch screen harder to use, whats the positive?

There isn't - not that I can see, I said the same thing earlier re distorted images. And to think there's curved TVs out there. Pretty dumb. Guess the innovators are running out of ideas?

Definitely do not want this

If there is any benefit it's maybe some people like watching films on curved screen?
I don't and see zero other benefits. The rolling around on table is horrific

Wtf, is this the best samsung can come up with.

Samsung said the curved screen display would help consumers use some of the features on the phone, including those that enable users to check information such as date, time and missed calls when home screen is off, with more ease.

How does a curved screen make any of that easier. Thats just a copy of glance on nokias,
What a strange and bizarre design route. Hopefully it'll flop, would hate curved screens to become standard.

Now nokias prototype of flexi screen where you bend the phone to control it, has a point, how it would work in practice, who knows. But at least its just not made up bs.

Looks a bit awkward to just stick it in your jeans pocket. Going to have to get it the right way round. Not that that is a huge ordeal.

Pointless unless it sits easily in the hand. Flexible and pulls out would be something ( like in Earth Final Conflict).

I don't get all this curved stuff - I remember when TVs were curved, and flatter squarer screens were all the rage!
On watches and stuff yeah OK maybe - but TVs and Phones? Why would you want your image distorted on a curved screen?
But then I don't really get 3D either. I think that's a load of gimmicky nonsense too.

I could imagine a curved monitor for flight sims, but that's about it.

Did you miss the "unless its flexible" part.

Sounds like your getting flexible OLED screens confused with fully flexible devices?

Flexible OLED screens use a different technology to current glass based displays. Even in a fixed chassis, like the Galaxy Round, the screen can be virtually unbreakable. Wrap it around the edges and its still shatter proof as there's no hardened glass to smash, the phone doesn't have to be flexible.

Samsung's business approach really annoys me. It's like they don't think in the slightest. It's just "Throw anything out there. OK, what have you got? Yep, that's good. Let's go with it. Who's next? Yeah, OK approved, next."

I'd say the opposite, the more the merrier. That way people who want a specific piece of (in this case) brand new technology can have it.

Those who don't want it, well it doesn't affect their lives in the slightest, so there's no problem there. A little gain with no downside is generally always going to be a good thing.

But I think people are seriously missing the point of this product. It's not designed or supposed to be a game changing product by itself. It's just bragging rights, with Samsung also being able to test the market for the product while introducing and testing their newest technology. So while this particular product might not really bring anything particularly useful to the table, it's one step closer to something that will.

I find these comments funny, when the Nexus S was announced with its curved screen people berated it before it even got launched, yet when they had it in hand they loved it, which is why the Nexus came the same style.

This will end up being the same.

Personally, i think it will sit better in hand than a flat phone of the same size.

So another £500 + phone, Is it just me that thinks there overpriced considering i can get a full on 10" tablet for the same price.

Something just doesnt sit well with me for the price of phones. I feel like im getting robbed just looking at the latest models and there price tags.

It's much easier to make a tablet in terms of thermal package, motherboard design, component size and batter density etc.
