Rip Ferrari interiors
I'm not sure about Ferrari interiors. However, I know people through work who restore and maintain running examples of old vehicles. They have the view that everything rubber turn to oil and rubber to oil.
Rip Ferrari interiors
Laughable. Bringing criminal law into this? The OP hasn't been reckless, how would he know the feet where dirty in the way they were? The customer is the only negligent one for leaving it in such a state, and then asking the OP to move it. By trying to get the OP to replace the carpet, it's a scam.that is not correct at all.
The customer could absolutely put a claim in and the problem for OP is op would have to prove he hadn’t been reckless in how he had handled or placed the pc. If the customer was to claim it would be a claim of reckless criminal damage under Section 1 of the criminal damage act 1971 as quoted below. It would be difficult for OP to prove innocence as i believe there is no cctv/other witnesses and as such it’s customers word against ops and the customer is the person who can prove his carpet has been damaged.
Hence why i keep saying i personally would be looking for an agreeable solution for both parties.
I think the case would come down to you proving that they asked you to move it.
I'm assuming they are saying you just moved it without asking?
Why is thread even still going? Apart from the comedy value of someone suggesting criminal damage the op has the answers he needs.
Tell them to do one.
Probably the wrong thing to do buy I refunded the pc and sent him £50 on top.. I also realised I spend too much time helping people for no or little financial reward so I'll be telling various people I don't work any more and be more selective of people I'll help (this is a hobby not my main job) . I'll also move to a strict if I'm not there to fix it I'm not touching it (literally not touching it) policy..Why is thread even still going? Gave him a used 24" screen and pc probably cost me £200 but old ish stock I wanted to get shot of.. And took his old pc / screen / printer to the dump for him!So you did the work for free, and paid him a goodwill payment of £50?
Tell him to ******* do one.
In any case - in the absolute insanely unlikely event that he takes you to the small claims court, there's just no way he's getting anything.

Just why?? Someone tries to shaft you and you just bend over and help them. Hopefully it’s a cheap lesson learned.Gave him a used 24" screen and pc probably cost me £200 but old ish stock I wanted to get shot of.. And took his old pc / screen / printer to the dump for him!

One incident in 100s (if not 1000s) of jobs over nearly 2 decades but also made me realise I wasted so much time just helping people for littlr or no money (this one job was probably no profit for 2 visits / 2 hours of my time just because I felt sorry for him as he is disabled / poor)
Well, apparently it's easy to do. You just put some oily substance under your own property, then tell someone else to move your own property, once it's created a stain, you take them to court and get a new house. Also make sure you phone the police, because it's crime, apparently, and this individual should be sentenced to death by putting him on a spike at the mouth of the Thames, to warn off evil spirits.Just thinking, I could actually do with a new bedroom carpet
Criminal damage?!? Step away from the keyboard and stop posting nonsense.that is not correct at all.

Surely claiming he was reckless is a little rough?or being reckless as to whether any such property would be destroyed or damaged shall be guilty of an offence
OP, I think I might send him a carefully worded email or a letter covering points such as -One incident in 100s (if not 1000s) of jobs over nearly 2 decades but also made me realise I wasted so much time just helping people for littlr or no money (this one job was probably no profit for 2 visits / 2 hours of my time just because I felt sorry for him as he is disabled / poor)
