Cyberpunk 2077 Ultra performance

Came across this thread on reddit which pointed to a 'fix' for the above issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/kbtuec/possible_cyberpunk_2077_on_amd_cpus_performance/

I tested hex editing the executable and it does cause the load to be spread across all cores instead of mostly on real cores though performance seemed the same in the brief test. Perhaps it would make more of a difference on older gen ryzen chips compared to this 5800X ?

Before:

After hex edit

1st line below D3D12 is t0 core usage percents , 2nd line below t1 cores.

5600x seems to be having issues, probably down to the load being mainly on just 6 cores v 8 on the 5800X. Be interesting to see of it boosts the 5600x up.

Anyone know how to switch firing mods? Looks like some weapons have a burst fire or full auto mode.

also what do the numbers mean next to the icons on the map? Keep seeing the number 2 pop up next to the icons like loot drop, side missions etc.

Also reports for loading up the cpu and doing nothing for fps. Be careful. High cpu usage can also be a problem with the code.

Just be careful, https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/kbp0np/cyberpunk_2077_seems_to_ignore_smt_and_mostly/gfjf1vo/

Open the EXE with HXD (Hex Editor).

Look for

75 30 33 C9 B8 01 00 00 00 0F A2 8B C8 C1 F9 08

change to

74 30 33 C9 B8 01 00 00 00 0F A2 8B C8 C1 F9 08

Note this,

Edit: After testing, the patch seems to work better with CPUs that only have 1 CCX.

So I just tried this out.

Funnily enough, I get worse performance with the patched exe at 720p low settings.

Original EXE, about 115-123 FPS standing at this intersection
Patched EXE, only 100-112 FPS in the same location

You can see GPU usage in afterburner is around 50% in both, so it is definitely CPU bottlenecked. Maybe they have AMD specific optimisation that doesn't play well with SMT.

Intel compiler strikes again. **** you, Intel.

Not their fault, wrong assumption from me and a few others. It was GPUOpen/AMD code. More details on my comment, now edited.

Just backup the original .exe and be careful.

Will this all seems to vindicate my decision to hold off a few days until the bugs had time to surface. I might give it a try later but want to update my BIOS and drivers first.

You can wait like 2-3 years because right now the game is awful, more like a benchmark tool than a game.
Ok it looks cool but the gameplay is terrible.

And the cat is out the bag. They are nvidia/intel bias. Who would have thought that /s
noo not really, you have you too use the intel complier for the best performance its been this way for the last 15 years. theirs no other complier that compares to it. its just intel put in their shoddy practises.
cannot really do much about it, believe you can override the settings on compile but that's suggesting that all developers know of this bad code that intel slivered in..

Luckily I'm in no rush, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not as good as the hype. I've played games on and off for over 40 years and it takes a lot to impress me these days. Must be nice for the kids though, I grew up playing on the Atari and Spectrum!

I noticed that people with AMD cards or those with Nvidia cards that want to use Fidelity FX, have no idea how to use Dynamic CAS.
Dynamic CAS should be used if you want to get constant FPS all the time. So let's say you run the game at 1440p and you get 50-70 FPS depending on scene. You enable Dynamic CAS, you put the target 60 FPS and the minimal res to 80% and you will get constant 60 FPS.
If you don't do this and leave the target FPS to default (i think it is 240), the game will be rendered at minimal resolution all the time. Sure you will get better FPS but in fact you are playing at a lower resolution all the time, instead of lowering the resolution only when the GPU is unable to give you 60FPS at 1440p. This is what dynamic resolution means, to render the game at a lower resolution only when the GPU is unable to give you the targeted FPS at the max resolution.

Well I am not going to even play it any more as the bugs do get on your nerves, the world and visuals can be amazing, but buggy as hell, so i have got a refund coming through steam. I will buy it again if they ever get the bugs out of it. Over hyped and not ready for release.
will see how it is in another year!

Did you try it after the 1.04 patch as that already sorted a lot of bugs.

Sounds like it needs a good month to get all the major bugs patched out.

Good, it’ll probably take me that long to find a 3090FE. :p
