*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Well firstly for the record I was never arguing that people can't spend their free time however they want - I believe I said "each to their own" and earlier mentioned that it wasn't something I would do myself and don't really understand it, but that's not exactly judgement or telling people what they can and can't do...

As for the superior thing I'm sorry to say that that really is just the way the world is now over virtually everything... Obviously it is a generalisation but everything is marketed on the FOMO factor stoked super hard by social media these days - just look around at the launch of anything and you'll see it. How about those 30XX series cards lately to pick even just one topical example?

Fair enough on the first point, I'm of a similar mind of live and let live.

As for the second, I don't really agree with you, although I admit I don't take part in social media (unless you count forums such as these) and neither myself or those I'm friends with fit the mold you're describing. I genuinely don't care what others think about what I choose to do in my free time. For the record, I probably wouldn't pointedly advertise the fact I'd just bought a new graphics card and spam pictures of it all over the internet either.

  • Completely over the top reactions ('**** this game.........I am never buying a CDPR game again............cancelling my order') - check
  • Arguments about taking time off - check
Sounds just about right for the internet unfortunately....

Sadly, arguments and the internet go hand in hand. There's a lot of pent up frustration, anger and misery in people behind the keyboards around the world (for a variety of real life reasons) and the chance to release that anonymously on the medium of the internet is too convenient for many to avoid. If it wasnt anonymous you would probably find a lot less arguing on the internet

Pretty much.

Don’t forget the argument of
  • I now hate them so much, but still want to play, so I’m going to pirate it

Then there is still some hope :p Most of the people I interact with don't act that way either, but if you spend any time anywhere more "general" / "common"(?) online (e.g reddit or twitter) it's all you see all the time, about everything (regardless of how inconsequential). It's sad to see that for so many people now what other people think really is more important than anything else - look at the scores of people who will pay £100+ to go to concert and then spend the whole time holding their smartphone taking selfies or recording clips of the show; because what's the point of going if your followers and friends don't know about every detail?

I actually stopped going to concerts with a long time friend due to that, we'd went for years to all sorts of events and always had a great time. Then smart phones became a thing and whenever we'd go see a band or what have you he'd disappear and be stood with his arm in the air recording crap quality video and audio onto his phone for the entire night. I found it a bit silly and quite unsociable, but more than that I absolutely loathe spending a chunk of money to see a band then have my view impeded by an ocean of glowing rectangles.

I realise I said live and let live earlier, but I draw the line when what you're doing impedes others enjoyment for little more than a narcissistic desire for internet views/pinkies or whatever.

I'm sorry but are we not allowed to voice our opinions?

What makes you think you should have an opinion on how someone else spends their own time? Maybe they're busy at weekends normally, maybe, on a forum that sells gaming PCs that cost as much as a car there would be a section of people that would be 'hardcore' enough to use one of their days off to indulge in their hobby.

That's exactly my point as said earlier, it's a strange concept, I guess I was brought up differently to others: work first, play later. I mean the game is still going to be there when they get home from work.. If people want to do it it's up to them, it's their life but I just find it very odd, only my opinion.

Work first, play later only benefits your employer, it's not a badge of honour to hold over people who choose to enjoy their hobby using the annual leave they work for and have earnt.

As luck would have it, the moving of the release date hasnt impacted me much in terms of the annual leave which so many are bickering over at the moment. Mainly because I have 5 weeks of leave booked from November 10th through to the new year anyway, so from the 10th Nov I'm on leave til next year. In that respect it means that I can play on release no matter when it releases (providing of course it doesnt slip back into 2021). I can understand why some people take off time to play a game when it releases, especially if its one they have looked forward to for a long time. I can equally understand why some people take off time to go and watch the football team of their choice playing (well, not at the moment of course :D ) , I can also understand why some people take off time to sit on beaches and do nothing (though it doesnt appeal to me)..I can even understand why some people take off time to do nothing but sit on the sofa and chill. I guess the point is, I can understand why people would take off time from work to do whatever, I might not do it myself to do activity X or Y, if those activities have no appeal to me but I can understand why someone would do so if it was meaningful to them.

Exactly you can do whatever you like with your time as long as it doesn't impact on other people. Shouldn't really need to be said though.

How does having an opinion determine one to being stupid? It's not that I don't understand other peoples choices to take time off work to play a video game, I said I found it odd as I've been brought up with a very strong work ethic. I was more specifiying the ones who take sick days or leave it till the last minute to tell the employer, not people on your 28 days year holidays. if you can't comprehend that then you are the one who is dense. Sitting behind your PC calling people stupid. Well done boy.

You're honestly coming across as really condescending, some people work 60+ hours a week or 12+ hour shifts and don't exactly have much time after work.

I'm one of those people, I booked a few days off and it's a little disappointing it's been delayed again, but I have another 20 days holiday and can't exactly travel so no big deal.

It wasn't meant as condescending, as I said it was more geared towards the people with comments on twitter screaming about it being delayed. Filled with hate, and more towards people calling in sick days, not annual leave etc.

People here were clearly saying "Booking time off", you dont book sick days off. Having sick days off when not sick is another topic. Just seems your moving the goal posts.

The twitter posts were saying booking time off for for sick days. And screaming about the game, that's what i meant by booking time off.

Anyway, enough now. This is dragging on and on.
