*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Jonny menzies likes arsenal players kicking a bag of wind on some grass so can't really think it's weird playing games on time off, I thought like that but after working away from my home life I love nothing more than playing games in my time off :)

Man, this thread went off the rails something fierce

Unless your playing fifa or fortnight casually. Being seen spending all day playing video games your deemed as a geek with no life.

And by the way, before you attack me, I do play all day sometimes or in the early hours too.

I don't brag about it though or tell mates etc that last weekend all I did was play star citizen or that Friday night I played arma 3 etc etc.

Its also strange to see me talk to random blokes I've never ever met in life in discord.

Heck posting this on a gaming forum is blooming strange to they outsider.
. Forum? What's that's? Your not on twitter or Facebook mate?

You don't go out in a pub or house party on a Fri or Sat night?

See where I'm getting at?

This is the internet bro there is no street cred here, stop taking life so seriously

I can't believe people care what others' views are on how they spend their leave.

I welcome people's right to comment on what I do and say, and am equally comfortable ignoring it as I am heeding feedback if I think it has merit.

My view is that people that book leave just to play a game are no worse than anyone who books leave just to engage in any other hobby, it's just some hobbies are deemed more socially acceptable than others, which is an old-fashioned view.

Maybe it's the prevalence of the importance of Instagram and Facebook-friendly photos that make some people feel like the only acceptable way to spend leave is sky diving or with a selfie in front of Angkor Wat.

Meh, with 2 young kids, sometimes a day off is the only time I get to actually play any games for more than half an hour (even then it's likely to be interrupted every 10 mins!).

To be perfectly honest, I'd rather be on the beach or up a mountain, but neither of those are practical in the Midlands or with a 6 month old in tow, so instead I'll have a bit of escapism in Night City for a couple of days (if/when the game ever comes out :p).

Anyone who has a problem with that or thinks its strange should have a long look at themselves, and consider that maybe they are the ones with the social issues since they seem to have issues empathising with other people's situations.

This sounds like you are never quite comfortable or happy being who you really are around your "friends", which is a bit sad. My football and rugby-loving friends are fine with the fact I live blissfully unaware of what's going on in the Premier League and don't have a single **** to give about the sport. Some of my friends like the same things as I do, some don't and nobody seems to care. Maybe it is you and your friends who are odd?

I used to think the same way as you and your friends, but then again, I also used to be a judgemental idiot. As I have become older (37) and had a family, I realise how precious free time is, and how being able to spend it doing exactly what you want (in moderation of course), is a true gift. Over time and with age, rather than being dismissive of how people spend their time, I have become more interested in finding out more about what it is they do for enjoyment and why. It's not something I expected to happen, but it's certainly a lot more healthy and pleasant than being judgemental. This is also a forum dedicated mainly to people who spend lots of time and money trying to make their PC go faster, so they can play games on it. Which makes your point a bit daft.

I will end by saying of course like many people, I still find some hobbies very odd; LARPing or anime for example. But it is a fact that these are generally the domain of the socially awkward, so you could make the argument that it's not the hobby that it is in some way weird but the character of the person doing it... However, that would be an extremely complex can of chicken or egg social worms to open. The point is that if for some reason I was a member of a LARPing forum I wouldn't tell them it's daft to take annual leave to LARP.
