*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

It's only natural to wish for everything to be perfect, but that rarely happens when the complexities of huge and varied ideas have to be balanced with the constraints of limited time and resources. It's the same pattern repeated throughout most things in life, and one just has to adjust and try to focus more on the positives.

:)

It isn't about everything being perfect it is about getting the basics right.

Well, you just said all the building blocks are there.

I mean, why must the interface be exactly in a certain way if it doesn't detract you from the more important aspects?

They aren't being used effectively. The interface doesn't need to be exactly a certain way but if it isn't implemented well it does detract from the more important aspects.

That's exactly what I mean, that it shouldn't.

You just have to let it go.

Had an interesting bug - I assume the NPCs that have no collision detection are a bug and not a feature but I had one that was standing talking to another NPC first time I encountered and collision detection worked fine, when I reloaded the save from just before though he was now walking along carrying out his same scripted conversation to thin air and had no collision detection but if I went to where I first saw him the spot was blocked like he was standing there even though he wasn't (and the other NPC was talking back to him as per script despite him visually being elsewhere).

I'm persevering but this game feels dead, and I don't see how a few patches will fix the foundational problems.

So beautiful to look at, and yet - outside of the main quest - so bland.

Hopefully they held all the city life details and immersion back because of bugs before launch? Wishful thinking, I know.

So much salt mining to be done in relation to this game (not just here) :D

"It's literally unplayable!!1!!", that's strange as I literally played it for 10 hours at the weekend. I find the "dead" comments weird too, is this setting related? Loads of NPCs and vehicles in the game I'm playing. It's not any worse than GTA V in that respect for me.

I do agree the bugs are rubbish and it's strange that they weren't picked up in play testing.

EDIT
On another subject is there any particular need to keep that 'dying night' pistol you get at the start of the game? Seems fairly weak?

I thought the Digital Foundry video was odd. At the end it suggested that a R5 3600 wasn't enough to run the game. I'm running it fine at high settings ~60FPS most of the time, some dips with the worst I've seen around ~47FPS in a demanding scene. I'm certainly not rushing to change my CPU.

It's just too nice!

And thanks for the DF link on optimised settings. I gave it a go and ended up slightly tweaking further and adding the reddit user's CSV file change to allocate PC VRAM/RAM properly.

Here's my optimised settings vid and a little pretty walkaround and a bit of funny japes at the end. The latter half of the video may be spoilery for some but it's more an Easter egg reference of sorts than a story spoiler I guess so nothing really to worry about.

Surprised you have CA, film grain etc. all on!?

Must say, motion blur in this is rather good though.

I'm having almost the opposite problem to a lot of people - it is performing unbelievably well on my setup, way better than I was expecting, with everything maxed except the one ray tracing option on ultra instead of psycho - I've so far not felt a single framerate dip. Even 4K runs well if I put DLSS on auto-balanced, quality drops it down to high 50s which ocassionally is noticeable.

Granted if I turn off DLSS it doesn't run as well - more like 40-45 FPS average.

That aside I have a lot of criticism about the rest of the game though - sadly like so many games loads and loads of fairly small issues which hugely impact on the presentation or quality of life with the game that largely could be fixed very quickly. A lot of the building blocks are there so it really shouldn't take any time at all to improve the interface between the game and the player and sort things like making the streets feel more alive and convincing AI wise, etc.

Was wondering why the game was showing hardly any use of my memory, etc. in the OSD while playing.

EDIT: Changing that file does absolutely nothing for me.

EDIT2: In fact the game doesn't even seem to be touching that file on my setup.

I cannot confirm if the file change did anything for me either as I did all my optimised settings at the same time too but I mentioned it anyway just incase lol.

As for patches, CDPR have made a statement:

I ended up leaving them on really, going the whole cinematic look this time round and I think having played several hours yesterday with them on, am indifferent about them in this game. Normally they go right off immediately in other games!

I seem to also have lowered gamma somehow as my video appears darker than it should be unless YouTube is doing funny games.

People seem to be criticizing the lack of world interaction but no one mentions combat? I'm on very hard and it's so easy, quickhack upgrades and u can just hide and set everyone on fire and just hide around a corner til they are all dead, gunplay feels meh and grenades are so clunky, also I've not found a upgrade to too my weapon in last the 20 hours of gameplay since I can just keep clicking the upgrade button my gun ever few levels, honestly this game sucks ass, graphics and city design is all it's got going for it

I found, on my XBO, that combat was really hard! (on normal).

Admittedly I only got a few hours in before I had enough and got a refund, but even then.....goons with barely any clothes on, let alone any armour etc, took two whole clips to kill! And quite a few shots were headshots.

I hate games with bullet sponge humans . Totally kills the immersion for me. They try and make graphics photorealistic, but then you get kicked right out of any semblance of immersion because people can somehow take multiple rifle bullets to the face.

Game Auto set to Ultra, including DLSS on Auto - RTX 2070 Super, SSD, 16GB , and a 4.8GHZ I7

Runs like ass, 45fps Not sure what to turn down

I have a very similar setup to you.

These are my settings

The game runs really well but there are lows when in very busy places. However, for the best part, I am around 70-60 with lows of 55.
Driving was the worst before the hash change for AMD however that has smoothed out and frame times are at least consistent now.

I do have G-Sync enabled by this game has shown up the differences to G-Sync compatibility with freesync monitors and actual G-Sync as it is no GTA experience.

Hope this helps.

After more game time last night and a few hours this morning I actually want to revise a few of my earlier comments.

I said the side missions were kinda formulaic, some of them are the gang fights and police things, but they're kinda background noise. After you pass Act 1 and the rest of the city opens up there's many more unique side missions which are crafted with full unique dialogue and have unique settings and mechanics and so feel just as polished as the story missions. And the gig side missions which are basically mini bases you have to infiltrate and do some objective, these are varied in their settings and layout a lot which keeps them interesting, especially considering they have multiple routes of ingress and normally have unique characters and dialogue as well, so they're not as story focused but they feel a lot more real, a lot more meat to them.

I was annoyed at the perks at first because so few were around non-lethal and stealth play, but now I have a non-lethal pistol it makes many more of the perks relevant and I find myself with more options and things to spend perk points on.

Still no major bugs, nothing game breaking. Mostly just unsynced animations, floating objects when physics gets a bit screwy, a few graphics glitches. Nothing that fundamentally ruins the game. And still only a few crashes so far.

I have a 2070 super with a [email protected] and 32gb ram and playing at 3440x1440 and im on high with DLSS in quality and getting normally between 70-100 depending on what im doing the 2070 is running 99% boosting to 2040 ish all the time my cpu cores are around 70% on all so im not sure there is such a differnce between the 3 systems with the same card?

Not bad, surprised it runs ok on my ancient CPU. No crashing either. Defaulted to some medium to high setting. Looks ok.

Gameplay wise, only been a few hours in but GTA 5 beats it all day long in the open world side of things.
