*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

I haven't played this (nor do I intend to any time soon) but out of all the negatives I've seen, I can't get over how the Police just instantly spawn around you the moment you commit a crime.

I complained about this back in one of the earlier GTA games...The fact that it's back in a mega AAA game over a decade later is nothing short of insulting.

Pff

They also instantly despawn after awhile if they haven't seen you in awhile - I had one shooting at where I was in cover with another shouting nearby then suddenly nothing and they were gone from the mini map and had totally disappeared.

I've had a relatively bug free experience, until this evening. Within the space of 10 mins my trigger appears stuck on, then I couldn't fire whilst aimed down the sight, now I have an enemy running through walls, just running around inside an apartment block like it's an empty warehouse.

I think that is where the difference is. Cyberpunk is a bigger world and more complex than GTAV. I think that is where their game engine approach is different.

I agree, you can seamlessly enter complex indoor areas which are filled with high levels of detail and still be in the actual open world, so whatever they're doing they're blending between the 2 seamlessly. And even though each house or building still can't be explored, there's a LOT of them dotted around the map for the purposes of side missions, and this works really well.

Jim Sterling tearing CDPR a new one with his latest youtube video (he starts with a song and dance number). I won't link because it's full of swearing, but it's funny and on point.

Jim sadly fell into the social justice crowd so it's no wonder to see see him doing a song and a dance routine in pink clothes and lipstick. His opinions on games have always been tailored to his kind of audience who are more interested about talking about how CDPR represent trans people rather than things like gameplay. I can't believe anyone takes his opinion seriously.

I don't agree with him on that, but his opinions on crunch, staff abuse, fans getting emotionally invested to the point where they threaten anyone who says not to throw in your lot with the corporations, only to be taken for a ride by the management that only wants your money, etc. That's difficult to argue with when CDPR has now proved itself to be no different from the Electronic Arts or Ubisofts of the world.

Hey guys, I'm just about to play but wanted to share the good news!!

Well, there's good news, and bad news, kind of.

So the good news is, I stopped the crashing! I found the solution!!!

The bad news is, to stop the crashing I had to disable Ray Tracing in the graphics settings!!! :(

And seriously, after playing the game for approx 35+ hours with RTX on, once you turn it off you really notice the difference, Cyberpunk really doesn't look as good with ray tracing disabled as ray tracing in this game makes the lights, shadows and relictions look awesome.

So yesterday I crashed 9x with Ray Tracing enabled, and I had always had ray tracing enabled previously up to patch 1.4 and when playing on patch 1.4 I would only crash once every 4-5 hours so I didn't mind since the game loads back up so quickly.

But after installing HOTFIX 1.5 yesterday my game crashed 9x and it seems to crash every 15-30 minutes. Once I turned ray tracing off I played for 3 hours straight with no crashing.

So yeah, I'm happy I can now play crash free and hopefully after a couple more patches they will fix the cause of the ray tracing causing the crashing.

Just for clarification I have an RTX 2080 8GB and I play in Ultra settings. The game is running fantastic for me now and my fps is even higher now with ray tracing turned off but still, if it wasn't for the crashing I would happily play with lower fps and opt to have ray tracing enabled as I prefer the way it looks.

I agree, without ray tracing the world looks flat and lifeless.
Try 445.87 driver, you’ll get artifacting over smoke but no crashes (or i havent since the 1.5 patch) 3 hours+ play time.

Not had a single crash (ray tracing enabled)... yet... but after almost exactly 2 hours I have to restart the game or FPS drops and it feels laggy like it is running half the framerate again - no sign of a memory leak though but it acts like there is one.

1. Whats wrong with wearing lipstick and pink clothes?
2. Whilst EVERYONE was circlejerking CDPR, he was indicating clear failings of the company and the games industry in general.
3. He covers gameplay in separate video to his Jimquisitions. The series are distinctly different for that reason.

Ok I am really done with this until it's fixed. All of a sudden I am being wrecked by enemies out of the blue. Whole clips in the side of their heads and oneshotted. Tried reloading, same thing. Absolute joke! :p

78 hours into Nomad as of tonight,. Still that only single instance of a crash around the 30 hour mark and everything else looks/runs rather excellent really. I have had numerous glitches/bugs but as before, nothing game breaking or just load last checkpoint to fix.

However, one really annoying thing from last night was that ALL 60 of my applied perk points (the yellow ones) had somehow de-applied themselves! I had to go back and apply them one by one but took advantage of the situation by shifting some perks around which ended up being quite a beneficial bug I guess?

Also this area was quite nice looking to just explore all the trash:

Have to wonder what is going on with this game - friend of mine is getting constant crashes - can't even play 5 minutes - system is not overclocked and seems fully stable from what I can see and doesn't crash with anything else.

Can't see anything hugely different to my setup - fairy fresh install of Windows 10, decent spec system without much in the background, etc. tried same driver versions for just about everything comparable, etc.

The only difference really is in the character setup and gender.

Yes HDR is also broken in this game so it looks better in SDR then HDR :(

Yeah what I was trying to say here:

On another note tried the hotfix drivers with the latest patch and HDR still doesn't work optimally on my display - it is better than it was but still the highlights don't pop as much as other titles and mid-tones are slightly desaturated - it actually looks better without HDR and slightly altering the contrast, etc. on my 43" display which has high constrast ratio and QLED, etc.

EDIT: I think something was broken with 4K before as well - with the 1.05 patch and latest nVidia hotfix drivers 4K is sharper/higher resolution looking, more like 4K should look, but takes around a 30-40% performance decrease compared to 1440p versus ~6% before.

I have a pretty decent HDR setup and mid-tones are ridiculously washed out compared to SDR and blacks don't pop at all and highlights are muted compared to other HDR applications. I don't think the game is using an actual HDR format internally i.e. 4 component 64bit signed float but just normal HDR depth with a fudged gamma curve. I've not messed about to test that though.
