I think Cyberpunk is one of those IPs that's not coming back, too much baggage. They'll release the DLC and a few caretaking patches and that's it. It's a real shame, while I've enjoyed my time, and I'm not finished with the story either, it really feels about 50% complete as a game

Shame Deus Ex is still shelved. I thought Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be better. But I still prefer Deus Ex. Though this could easily change if they deliver in a sequel.
Nah. It made a ton of money and if they actually fix this up to a decent standard and deliver big time on a sequel it will only sell just as well if not better.
TBH I'm getting a bit tired of the RPG/perks/attributes implementation in a lot of games - older ones it was always a bit of a mess but kind of understandable for the era but these days it is a mixture of random ideas, minimum effort and/or designed cynically for publisher agenda based on player statistics and how they want to manipulate the player, etc. rather than as something that is intended to be fun.
90% of the upgrades and so on in CP2077 are either completely non-functional even if they say they do something, don't actually do anything useful and/or highly situational, etc. with few that nicely mesh together or form a proper progression tree, etc.
The Division was OK, a bit mixed but mostly you could play about and have fun with it and see how things fitted together and/or there was enough flexibility you could mix and match stuff to personal taste without creating something totally useless, etc. while TD2 just left me cold in that respect and one of the reasons I didn't buy the game - especially felt too curated towards specific play styles and unrewarding to work towards, etc.
CP2077 is just ****** awful in that respect at best and I'd be down right embarrassed if it was my work.
EDIT: Which reminds me I need to fix a bug in my seeking grenades implementation for a Quake 2 RTX mod hah.
As an analogy, imagine Ferrari plopping out a car that was so badly designed and made that it was worse in every way than a chavved-up 1.0L Nova that won shed of the year at Barryboys. Every way - performance, economy, handling, styling...everything. While saying that it was the best car they'd ever made, lying about its performance and advertising it as having a whole host of features it didn't have.
It's that degree of disappointment.
I think it's starkly clear how they got from TW3 to this- it's a skin on exactly the same engine, with nearly all it's limitations intact.
The Red Engine is a very pretty-looking engine with minimal world interaction, and in the case of TW3 they offset that by overlaying a fantastic and engaging story.
On the other hand, when I saw CP2077 was coming out (quite late on), my immediate thought was "The Witcher 3 in a Scifi setting- I'll have some of that" and avoided all the press. So for me, it hasn't disappointed at all.

Before release I saying this could be another No Man Sky situation, everyone shot me down that it was going to be the best game ever. 
But i think it's a good comparison. Both 'disappointments' was a combination for poor communication from the actual developer, the community getting themselves into a hype frenzy (and putting expectations on the game that it was never going to be) and finally simply being released too soon. Both had far too many bugs, poor PS4 was practically unplayable, but there was also features promised that simply weren't there. Often you could see where those features would fit into the game but they didn't get them done in time. Question is though will it have the No Man Sky redemption arc? CDPR do seem to be sorting issues at the moment but unlike NMS they have a lot more corporate pressure to move onto the next project project they can sell. I hope they do finally 'finish' the game to a point that's close to the original target but I'm sceptical.

That's just not true though is it? There are some upgrades that dont work and there are also some that are highly situational, but the vast majority work as they say they do.
@MikeTheNative Well, seeing recently they mentioned how committed they were here: https://www.windowscentral.com/cyberpunk-2077-will-be-sold-years-come-cd-projekt-committed-fixing-it I'd be happy to wait and see what happens, if NMS is anything to go by.
And, as always, that article mentions only bugs and low performance on PS4 and Xbone. The latter will become ignorable in time as those consoles become ever more obsolete. So the only thing they're committing to is fixing bugs. Not fixing the vast gap between what they claimed the game is and what the game actually is. The bugs make things worse, but the underlying problem is the lying, the missing features and the badly implemented features. Those aren't bugfixes. They're a major rewrite of the game and a change in corporate culture.
Random example - a Lego city game for children released 20 years ago had vastly superior traffic handling than CP2077 does. I was going to talk about vehicle AI, but that would be an unfair comparison because CDPR didn't even bother trying to implement a vehicle pseudo-AI system. The vehicles on the streets in CP2077 are just following very rudimentary scripts. For example, if you park neatly next to the curb every car behind you will just stop until it despawns. The "vehicle AI" is too crude to include steering around an obstacle. The pedestrian "AI" is equally non-existent. Which is one of the things CDPR straight up lied about. Repeatedly. Thousands of people with their own lives, a living city of people. No. A lie. People walking back and forth repeating the same simple action until they despawn. There's far more "AI" in a Roomba than in CP2077!
That's just a random example. There's a lot that's bugged, yes. But there's a lot that simply doesn't exist. They're not committed to fixing that.
I haven't checked the latest patch but there was a good 30% on the spreadsheet which just plain didn't work and over 50% which were somewhere between non-functional and might as well have been non-functional and many of the rest weren't worth bothering with.
AFAIK, a number have been fixed from what I recall. All that said game even on hardest setting becomes a cakewalk once your past level 20 IMO and by 50 its god mode, got to point just need I use weapons I have no perks in to try and keep some semblance of not one hit KO'ing anything.
I found pad made things feel smooth. Double jump cybernetic implant seems basic, but really opens up the movement aspect of the game. AI though is pretty bad and does dumb things. Becomes more pronounced as you level with perks and weapons IMO.

Play it pretty much as a straight up shooter and it is reasonable - you might need to mess about with the config file manually as some of the settings/keybinds aren't or weren't when I last played exposed through the menus.
The cyberware stuff I found far too clunky to be enjoyable and largely just didn't bother with it aside from where it was essential to use.
I actually wasn't bothered, though it could have done with some tweaking, that after a point the game became a bit too easy - but it is kind of LOL when you can complete a stealth mission by just LOL tanking all the NPCs and/or just moving through so quickly with double jump, etc. they don't even register you are there.

A lot of the game is a first draft cobbled together type of thing that needed a fair bit of balancing work before it was in a finished state but was released anyway. I think the game was released at least 6 months early and that's not including the stuff that just isn't there at all (like pseudo-AI for pretty much everything).
Even though I thought W3 was overrated in certain regards I still enjoyed it for what it was for the most part.
This, however, is even better. The amount of entertainment for the price is insane, I haven't paid a dime but I'm having such a blast with all the compilations and memes
I'll have racked up around 100h by the time I decide it's finally reached 2020 standards. The recent patch brought the AI to around 2000 so who knows. Maybe I'll even get to do RPG stuff and have actual meaningful choices that change major aspects of the game like they umm, advertised.

All that said, don't go by the DPS counter I find. Depending on your perks actual damage you apply can be insane. Good example is the Ionic Sword, my DPS shows 1k DPS in tool tip, however in actual use always hits for over 10k damage.
I find cold blood tree synergises with everything and makes everything insane period if you equip your body with crit chance / damage. Try that with the LMG and you will mowe everything down and most hits will crit and crit hard. Still not to level where you can one shot cyber psycos on hardest difficulty like tech weapons or assault rifles when levelled, but will kill everything in seconds anyways.
Nah I mean iconic (small i) as in the weapon (alongside shotguns) that tree specialises in.
And when I say it's gimped I mean when I'm rolling for bonus perks on a crafted weapon or from a vendor the weapons can get stuff like:
+crit damage
+crit chance
+headshot damage
+chance of fire/electric/poison
+extra bullet when you fire
etc
The LMG (and many other weapons, but there is only one LMG!) can't roll for any of those extra damage perks and that's an enormous loss in damage compared to the weapons which can.
Even some Iconic (big i) weapons can't roll for these perks while random guns off the vendor can. It's unnecessary unfairness and gets in the way.
Okay slightly confused what you mean by Ionic, for me Ionic are those one off guns specifically with Ionic in the game with Ionic in the title of the weapon.
On the LMGs, and I may be misunderstanding your issue. But when I craft LMGs I do get random stats added fine to same level as other crafted weapons. I Only have the Rare plans for the LMG so crafted that and another random Rare blueprint, both got bunch of differing traits fine on either gun as expected. In this case for LMG rolled Ricochet damage and bleeding chance:

All come with mod slots of course so can shove on more attachments as any other gun to increase crit damage etc. Buying the LMG from the market as legendary also comes with some of the perks in this case this one had crit chance as stock and burn chance:
