Have we had the "they don't pay road tax" followed by the "its called vehicle excise duty" phase of the argument yet

At night mine looks like a moving disco, two flashing whites on the front and a very bright pulsing red/blue on the back. And then there's my 1200 lumens front light too, which can also flash/strobe if needed. So yeah, I can be seen at night.
No because 99.9% of cyclists will stop at the red light and check if there's any vehicles coming on the "green" side before deciding if it's safe to proceed or not
Can I do that in my car?No because 99.9% of cyclists will stop at the red light and check if there's any vehicles coming on the "green" side before deciding if it's safe to proceed or not

Vehicle excise dutyShall we pretend that car drivers fully obey traffic lights and don't try and be the last car through the lights when it has clearly gone red? And they never speed? Or is that so common it's not news.
Something road tax.
Made-up statistic is made-upNo because 99.9% of cyclists will stop at the red light and check if there's any vehicles coming on the "green" side before deciding if it's safe to proceed or not

citation neededIn his defence, 95.67% of all statistics on the internet are made up.
Would it be OK for car drivers to do the same?

Of course they don't but, when drivers are caught and fined, they accept they were wrong and move on.

The issue the OP is making is not that drivers don't run red lights but that, when cyclists do it and get fined, the cycling community have a hissy fit rather than just accept they made a mistake/broke the law and get all whatabout-ism over it
